Lizardskin - Lots o' pictures
After doing a lot of looking around at the posts here and other places I decided to go with the L/S v/s the homemade brews. I wasn’t comfortable with the house paint and microballons for the heat barrier (mostly the unknown longevity of the paint being the question). So I found the L/S on the ‘bay’ for what I thought was a decent price, with free shipping too. It went on a little sloppy at first (driver side rear W/W) until I adjusted the gun properly (their gun) and then it went on pretty nice, except for some operator error in spots. I used 4 gallons of the sound deadener; used it inside and out, 2-3 coats. I figured leaving a gallon to dry up inside the can wasn’t gonna do much good so I used it up. I did leave a little to try putting some inside the doors next weekend. Figure I can get away with half that with the heat barrier since I only need to do the front, the hump, underneath the seats and footwells inside and out.
I did notice a pretty good reduction in the “steel drum” sound after it dried; sounds more like a “thump” now. I also have some knock-off dynamat I’ll prob put down over the hump and maybe inside the doors since I’ll be running sidepipes. Here are some pix

Nice job MyRed69 and good write up. I also sprayed Lizard Skin inside and out using the special gun they sell for my project, but I chose to use both the sound deadener and the ceramic heat insulation, 2 pails of each, which left some for inside of the door skin. I found if you keep the pails sealed the product does not dry out easily, and it is water based so you can add a tiny bit of water to thin out if need be. I also epoxy top coated the outside bottom for easier maintenance and looks, but be careful here, as you need to use a flexible topcoat when covering over Lizard Skin, or it will probably crack do to flexing. I sanded down the outside of the firewall where I had sprayed the Lizard skin up about half way, so that when I painted the ouside of the firewall the Lizard Skin was unnoticeable. I loved using this product once I switched to the proper gun that they offer for sale, and with some practice you can almost lay it out flat . If you get a chance you can also view the demo video where they apply some Lizard Skin to a hot plate and then put ice cubes on it to show the heat shielding properties.
Link to the demo video check out the bottom video.

I also used the lizard ceramic skin and it does wonders for the heat off the floors. I am restoring my 72 convertible now and I plan on using it on the floors there as well. Then on to the engine compartment for the firewall. Great product!!

Beautiful work.
I hope you're going to test drive without the carpeting etc installed and take some ir temps on the flooring to see how that ceramic is reflecting the heat.

I really like the looks of this stuff. You guys did an awesome job with it too. I WISH I would have done the same when I did mine. I was in a hurry and went another direction. At some point I will be back in there and working it over again. Nice work and thanks for sharing the pics. Food for thought.

I even threw some into my wheel wells front and rear. I hated to do it after spending so much time stripping all the goo out of those places but I was worried about getting "stars" in the paint if I did not add something. Painted over it with Chassis Black.
I only did the inside of the car, not the bottom side.
I think it is a great product and MAJOR time saver compared to peel and stick stuff. The ability to coat every nook and cranny has to help both sound and heat.
The stuff isn't cheap but it is good.
Looks great. I even shot some onto the underside of the T-Tops also.

Nice work!
That's what I'm using on my '71 vert as soon as I get it from the paint shop. Got the materials a few months ago.

seeing that I don't have an air compressor, is there any reason why you can't brush this stuff on?
