Question; What kind of rims and tires do you have mounted on your car? The tires size seems to fit perfectly and the rims/spinners are something I have never seen before - very nice. They look like early 70's wheels/slots (??). If you could provide details of your wheels, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Mike
Iggy,

They are US Indy Mags, 15x8.5 rear and 15x7 front. The offset is around 3.75" if I remember... Bought them from a forum member couple of yrs ago.

Tires are 255-65x15 rears, 245's front. Yokohama's.

Iggy,

The wheels are American 200S's from the 70s/80s. They are dated back to that era - you can buy a newer version now. Front 15x8 - 4" BS with P235/60R15s; Rear 15x10 - 3.5" BS with P255/60R15s. Hood is an aftermarket L88 - original LT1 hood is hanging on my wall.

Thx, Gary

Now with all you guys with side pipes, do anyone have problems getting on a two post lift? I tried on two different lifts today and couldn't get it without the arms bending the hookers. So I had to go old school with the floor jacks.

I only do floor jacks anyway. I do know I could barely get on an alignment rack! Oh well! I love the pipes!

Not hard with a two post, feet have to be turned all the way down, you have to put the front arms under, roll the car then the rear arms.

Ive been following this thread for some time now and I have to ask the question, the pipes on these vettes that are the 69 style, are they original type or are they the fiberglass ones. And where did you purchase them. I am talking about the ones like on LS4 Pilots or Roguester vette. I am considering a set for my 72 convertible but i didnt want to buy something that doesnt show well. Also if they are the fiberglass ones did you paint them silver or another color.
Thanks
Rodney

Got mine (the covers) which are not Fiberglass, from Paragons they are chromed aluminum, pot metal or something! They look awesome but they are pricey.

I then had Stahl custom (semi) make some headers, which I had big problems with (a whole other story!) then had to have them modded for the WBO2 sensor and jet coated. Total amount @#%&$$$$$!!!

I like em, but not sure I would go that route again as the Hookers look pretty good (insert one of many jokes here!)

Rodney,

For the record I am no expert at Corvettes.. I own a 2x Gold concourse 71 Stage 1 Buick GS convertible. Nice Buick, although I can't drive it everyday. I was looking for another Buick but expensive parts prices and coupled with a bad economy held up my Buick ‘driver’...

I always liked the C3 corvettes and my 76 factory yellow L48 crossed paths with me last year and I bought it. I started this thread with the question of what other C3's looked like with different type side exhaust systems and found everyone helpful and informative. As I understand it the side exhaust you’re referring to has two types; the original 69 version (metal/nice finish $$$$) and aftermarket with fiberglass side pipe covers which is more reasonable in price that are fiberglass and could be painted body color. Either way, if you’re looking for originality check out Corvette Central or Zip Corvette and they’ll have what your looking for..

Now.. Hooker Headers are more reasonable for maniacs like me.. I like the look and sound.. According to what I have read, they come in stainless, chrome and black. I read the stainless discolors due to heat and the chrome does not ..but it depends on who you talk too.. I was also told the black eventually rusts.. (It’s all good).

I also started another thread on wheel combo’s here on the board and the pictures are amazing..

I’d hate to say it… but I am having more fun restoring this Corvette then I had restoring my Buick.. No pressure, don’t care about numbers, specific hose clamp types/color finish and factory engine bay chalk marks... Read everything and see what mistakes were made before you and learn from them. This is a great board and the folks are cool.. I’ll post pics soon of my car.. It’ll be nice with a Chevy 350, 4 speed and rebuilt (everything) with Hooker SIDEPIPES.. It’ll be completed this spring.
