Dunno André, maybe this year, maybe next one.
It's school of patience as I had to learn.
When are YOU popping by to see by yourself?
Thing have changed a lot in the garage since the last beer.

It has been a while, hasn't it? Guess I am due to pop-in for a cold one.

Having followed this thread from across town all this time, I have to give it to you: You're a better man than I am.

I would not have had the stomach, *****, patience OR skills to get this far, especially the learn-as-you-go approach in a garage the size of a broom-closet!

Especially for a man of his height; which makes the garage even smaller.

Denis,

How far are you from the Mosport track in Bowmanville Ont?

Our team might be racing there next month.

Tom Sarno

PS. - Your car's brother is getting ready to start for the first time in over a year.

Well, Montreal - Bowmanville: 4.5 hours drive.
Damn that's tempting. I hear a lot of good from CT motorpark.
I'll let you know.
Cool for the sister car (I tend to see them as female), They'll have to meet one day for sure

I hope to be there the week end of May 19. We run Transam Series in TA2. Check it out at gotransam.com. I am with the number 08 car. We took fourth for the season last year with the driver and crew all new to pro road racing.

Ok, here's a little side project I've been on for last weeks.
OLED display:

The plan is to have a set of these acting as gauges in the center console.
As the video don't show, the display is perfectly white.
The contrast is obsolute, just as the angle of vision. I never had OLED display before, they are amazing.
Took some hacking to get the most of it, my microcontroller is rather weak, so I wrote custom rendering routines for my specific needs.
I have setup some kind of tools chain that let me export all my Photoshop bitmap ressources into the proper format.
That was cool coding in 8 bit. reminds my old Commodore 64.

Looks pretty cool Denpo!!! Wish I would've paid better attention in my earlier electronics and computer classes... Love to see folks do something a little different with amazing results...

Keep it up...

Thanks buddy
I code for a living, so I'm probably biased on the whole thing, but it's not that complicated.
I read you're so good at your job you're gonna have to pause the resto for an extended time to follow your career.
Why don't pick up on electronic in the meantime?
Arduino is a very simple platform that let you discover electronic and programming, even if you start from very low.

Thanks man.
I'm still undecided if I got for the B/W or the color ones, colors OLED are twice the price and lower horizontal resolution....

Now you understand the crap I went through making four flares!

Dennis, the lip of the fender in the pace car picture looks like it has been cut off to accomodate the spoiler. That's what I see...I could be wrong though.

Yeah, that's what DucatiDon also posted.
Surprisingly nobody has pic of that area.
Right now I'm considering a couple of B plan : buying the side part of the spoiler new, or simply not putting a front spoiler.
In any case no way I'm gonna grind my fender off without knowing exactly where the heck I'm going.

Btw, there's another '75 for $6k waiting for you on Kijiji if you have some spare time.

Lol, yeah, saw it.

since you're asking, here's some update.

First something I did weeks ago but never felt like posting. I did some block sanding test on one front fender. Used epoxy + ceramic micro bead, sanded with 80 grits. I obviously don't looks smooth, but my hand tells me otherwise.

Then, the ongoing process that is taking me an humongous amount of time : the front bumper.
I had to drill the holes, modify the brackets and adjust everything. I stopped counting how much time I dismantled this.
A freaking puzzle.

But it's coming along. Slowly, but surely.

I gave up on the pace car spoiler, and switched to a chrome bumper era spoiler.
Smaller more subtle, and Muuuuuch easier to fit. (note: the gap at the bumper corner is normal, it was not bolted a that moment)

I'm pretty much done with the bumperette removal. This is also taking me a lot of time, but I wanted something special, more 'flowing' than just cutting out the bumperette. I'm still running the front crash pad, but it look less massive IMHO.

The base is fiberglass, and the shape is epoxy + fiberglass 'fume'.

My last issue is the center area :

I already thickened the backside with fiberglass, and I now grinding it down to make it fit, not done yet.
I could probably force it down to the correct height, but I'm afraid all the force I would apply when gluing would eventually come to bite me in the *** later. I want it to naturally fit in.

Bottom line : fiberglass front bumper = lot of work

Denis--

Looking good!!! Had some of the same issues when installing my front bumper, but didn't have to worry about modifying the bumperettes... Really like your modification, interpretation... Keep at it, you're making pretty good gains...

Thanks Rogman

I realize now how tired I am, my post is full of spelling mistakes. I've never been good at that even in my own language, but still, my apologies to everyone.
