Default Looking for 15x10 Wheels

UPDATE: This is a 2 year old thread people. Someone brought it back from the grave and I replied to their questions.

Need help finding any wheels that come in 15x10 that fit our car.

I really wanted the American Racing TT IIs but I guess the 15x10s don't come in the backspacing that we need.

What are my other options? I couldn't find anything on wheelsforless, tirerack, or discount tire.

15X10 to fit under a factory fender or a fender flare?

Wait, I found some American Racings that might fit, however I'm torn between these three options due to conflicting opinions, spread over many forums:

15x10 4.50" BS

15x10 4.25" BS
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AR...n/?prefilter=1

15x10 4.00" BS

NO, you need 5" bs to have any chance of fitting.

Interesting..

So it seems that anything less than 5" will rub on the fender...but more than 4.50" will interfere with the trailing arms/calipers/e-brake/springs..?

I've been talking to another one of our members who does have 2" flares..but had to use a 7/16 spacer with his 4.50" backspacing...and still had to do a little grinding.

I used to have 15 x 10 Convo Pros with 5" BS on my '74. Anything less than 5" BS will stick out beyond the lip of the fender - the "bulge" of the tire still stuck out a little on mine You can always add flares. . . You will need to relocate the emergency brake and shorten the spring (my composite spring was shortened 3/4" on each side) in order to fit 5" BS.

What tire are you planning to run? If 275-60, you can get by with an 8" wide rim. 295-50 or 325-50 need something wider (not my favorite width/height ratios). Search the forum - I have responded to this question 4-5 times and have previously posted pictures of my old set-up.

Thanks for the response!

I will be running a Nitto nt555r extreme drag radial: 275x60x15. So I can use an 8" wide rim with it? It won't look weird? If so, then that's great, it will solve a lot of my backspacing issues. So what backspacing would I need with an 8" wide rim? And if I use an 8" wide rim, then I won't need to relocate the e-brake or shave the springs? I'd rather not have to do either..

:EDIT: Also, what about an 8.5 or 9" wide rear wheel? Still fitment issues? What backspacing for either one so that I don't have to modify the suspension/brakes?

Default 4" is about the msot you can go with stock parts

My experience has been, that 4.00" backspacing is the most you can have without working on the spring and e-brake.

With Boss 18" x 9.5" wheels with a 5" backspacing and 275/40/18 tires, we had to relocate the e-brake mounts on the trailing arms and cut new mounting holes in the steel spring and cut off the ends with the plasma cutter. The tire and wheel fits under the lip fine on the '82.

At a minimum I'd urge a 9x15, 4.5" BS with a 275/60R15 rears. They'll mount on 8's, but IMHO will look and drive like balloons. JMO

Will the wheels fit without rubbing on the fender or having to alter the e-brake/springs/etc?

He plans on using a drag radial, so IMHO the 275-60 on an 8" rim will be fine for what I think he is trying to accomplish. Certainly tons of images on this forum of that combination for him to look at. Also, he can search other "performance" forums (LS1 Tech, Turbo Buick/Grand National, Mustang, etc.) and see all the cars using that same combination for street and strip. Agree with you that it is definitley not the low profile 17"/18"/19" rim look.

I am running a 30" tire on my car now (can mount a 295-65 drag radial) - but it is for straight line purpose only!

You need the offset T-Arms to work that 5" BS. Ideal would be a 15x10 with 5.5" BS.

For 4.5" BS, you'd need to move the e-brake bracket (not that big of a deal) and might well have to shorten the main leaf, but I can't say from my own experience about the spring as I've had a narrowed one on my '78 for over 20 years. There have been a number of 8.5x15's with 4" BS available over the years if you just want to bolt something on and go, which would be at least a bit better than 8's.

I've seen a number of guys who have successfully mounted 15x10's with 5" BS, but it's hard to see how that works without the tires striking the fender lip. But, apparently it does...

Sorry gotorbcn, just doesn't suit my tastes. To each his own.

VERY limited choices in 8.5" or 9" rims (either right look, wrong BS, right BS and wrong look or don't clear the calipers) - those would be perfect for the 275-60 DR. If you find something in that size that YOU like, I would search the Forum to see what others' experiences are. I run Centerline Telstars on the street and the fronts did not clear the stock calipers in the size I chose. I gutted my whole front suspension and brakes, so it wasn't a problem at the of end of the day. You always have to be careful and be prepared to do a little work to make things fit. That's what makes this all so much fun!

No problem. Someday I would actually like to have my old school look to take tothe strip and another 17"/18" combo for a change of pace. I like them both!

I also have offset T/As, but can't remember if they came into play with the 5" backspace. The rear spring hit the rim and definitely had to be shortened.

Yes, 5.5" backspace is ideal - not a lot of them out there without ordering custom. That's what I did for my Centerline Telstars that I run on the back now (5 3/4" BS - had to rework the frame for that!).

Well, I appreciate all the advice guys!

I guess I will have to choose a 15x8 wheel...since it is the lesser evil among adding flares, cutting/grinding/altering components, and having a balloonish tire. I just hope it doesn't get too bouncy on the road, as this is a primarily DD vehicle, but with trips to the strip for some light racing.
