Default I had no idea there was a 1989 Stingray

I also had no idea that the GM factory installed the aftermarket side pipes on the C4's

http://orlando.craigslist.org/cto/1865015466.html

But the hood scoop on the roof is really cool in a silly geeky kid racer import tuner type way...

I can see a few good reasons there were only 150 made, if his claims are true. I was not aware of this build. Maybe someone in the C4 section could shed some light.....

A Google search of "1989 Corvette Stingray RX" only brought up that ad, not that I really believed his claims. That hood scoop is a little funky, but it still looks pretty nice.

Gee, I would expect something that rare to go for at least $10,000!

Having owned a C4 I can tell you everything he claims came from the factory is in fact aftermarket parts. There was no 1989 Stingray RX, only in his mind.

Yep. False advertising. Or delusional.

I wonder if the C5 logo on the dash is stock for a 1989 Corvette too?...

Why are there more clowns like this in the Corvette World than anywhere else?

Has anyone emailed him and asked him (politely) for more information on this rare bird, as we are just not Corvette-smart enough to know about it?

REAL factory dual side exhaust.
You guys are way too rough on these ads. Those pipes ARE real, and they were made in a factory (in China).

And that has what to do with this thread?
It's flattering that Priya is still stalking me to add nothing of substance to my threads in this case it's just a nonsense fun thread because the seller is clueless,

Right up my alley?...no, while you follow me around you miss a lot, I never liked C4's too much, I love the C3's,
I was happy with my 86 but happier with it when I sold it.

You know I have to poke at you on this one, Did you forget your spell check yet again?
GM spelled it "MAKO" and then for copyright reasons Silva/Motion Spelled it "MACO"
I know you will grasp that in time,
But my car is not going to be some Mako/Maco kit car re body wanna be clone but rather a one off custom starting with some off the shelf old school parts.

As far as how it's coming...well, I can't tell you how excited I am to get that front clip on there, the problem is several little things...you know how life can be,

We are a two car family, the PT Cruiser ( Turbo ) is getting the engine overhauled so the only car we have is the vette, I can't tear into it to do the Clip swap until the PT is back from the shop which I was promised would be this week,

Now due to life, help, timing and all I pretty much can only do something like a clip swap fri-sun and while this coming weekend is open the weekend of the 7th I have a big show ( the other way I make a living ) so no car work then,
I assure you that I will update things when it happens and if all goes well that should be this coming weekend....

Speaking of work, or even driving, have you taken your car off that shop lift and drove her at all?
I am serious I know you get off poking at people on here but if you got your car out and just drove it and had some fun you might just lighten up a bit,
I know you were a bit put off saying your car drove like a bucket of bolts lumber truck but geez...it's a vette, go have some fun in it,

I know it's a total misrepresentation, but it's not a bad looking car.

He could drop the pretense and drop the price about two grand, it might be a good deal for someone.

LOL, I know what I wrote - I'm well aware GM spelled it Mako, but with your "skill" you won't be producing a Mako shark, you'll be making a Maaco shark - you know, like the third rate body shop.
That is if you don't abandon it first like your other projects. I know you're on the slow side but I didn't think that bit of humour would slide by you. I can see you're having a bad day so I'll leave you on your own now.

Factory side pipes disappeared after 1969 because of problems with state motor vehicle regulations requiring the exhaust to exit after the rear wheels.

You never fail to crack me up...

Sadly you get really boring and dull really quickly...

I can't seem to clue you in, I am building a custom, not a Mako, Maco, or your odd Maacc idea...perhaps when you get your 79 painted that hot pink you want you can call it a Maaco...

No need to worry, Actually my day is rather great...I booked a second gig which means double $$$...
I have the shop ready to install a convertible top on the 69, I just got a call from a fellow who wants to buy some parts Mike is laying up my side gills so all is really sunny here...

How big of a snide fool do you want to look like...you just well proved all you do is come into my threads to spew your off topic trash talk....so it would seem you are the one having a bad day.....for that I feel very badly for you. you need to get out there and get a life of your own.

You have no idea of my "skills" and I have no idea what abandoned projects you babble about,
I sure am not foillowing anyones time frame on my build.
I sold most of my yard art so I could just focus on the 69 vette and of course all that extra $$$ is cool...I still have several project ongoing including a full frame 917 kit car and a VW trike...the main project is the 69 custom build....something is just too cool about the C3's...you are really missing it not playing with your car.

You come by my threads and just trash talk, you add nothing but the bitter negativity that you seem to always carry with you, You sure are obsessed with me and my life both on and off line, my wife thinks you need a new hobby rather than following me around to talk smack,

Like I said before you need to stop being so mad and get out and enjoy your vette...now prove just how obsessed with me you are by replying with some more of your senseless tripe....

I don't think that there are any more clowns in the Corvette world than there are anywhere else. It's just that this forum, being Corvette oriented, points out these dopes. For example, read the PR&C section, and see how many ding bat Obama voters we point out. They stick out here like a sore thumb.

Secondly, and I realize that this could be a stretch, maybe some Florida Chevy dealer(s) did indeed "customize" a batch on '89 'Vettes for sale at their place. The modifications don't appear to be anything all that radical.....

The advent of catalytic converters in '75, hence single exhausts for a while, also helped speed their demise....

Even a "stealership" wouldn't install a hood scoop on the roof...

Other than the outlandish claims, and the hood scoop on the roof, it does look pretty nice.

Seats look sort of like those cheap Sparco deals though....
