Hi TJ,
I used kerosene and a plastic scraper.
There was a LITTLE bit of undercoating sprayed in parts of the wheels as sound deadener. When that was done a bit of overspray went on the sides of the battery and jack compartments.
Regards,
Alan

Some updated pics. Spent some time wire wheeling the frame also going to drop the rear and repaint it. The orange has to go. Also painted the
tank and striped and cleaned the t-tops.

Hi TJ,
I'll take a couple of pictures of the black-out and undercoating/sound deadening on my 71. I don't really have any shots that show the coverage on hand.
Regards,
Alan

PS: It looks like you have quite a NICE gas cap. The one with the red 'caution' plate is not to easy to find. Is it an original?

Hi Alan thanks I would appreciate it, pics say a thousand words.
As far as I know the tank and cap are original. Its a shame Stan
mentioned that this vette would be a perfect candidate for a frame off.
I love it when I uncover some original markings. I am the third owner
and the previous owner had it since 73. He had some fun with the car but he took car of it.

The previous owner had painted a lot of the suspension orange. (to each his own I guess).

While we are it, we took the rear suspension off, cleaned everything and repainted everything back to stock looking. We havent reinstaled everything back on the car yet, till we figure out the next step.

Louie and I have been disussing taking this car off the frame to really got through it.

Trying to clean up everything under the car and detail it properly with the frame on is not the easiest and best way to do things.

The frame on this car is very clean, and would really look great sandblasted and painted properly. As I have said before, this car is a strong candidate for a frame off, as the results would be great when done and bring the car to a whole new level.

For all of you who have done frame offs, you know that it is a big decision to be made, as it involves a lot more labor and more of a financial commitment as well.

Louie has had a lot to think about while we are at this stage...

It involves making a different type of commitment to the car than just a paint job to spruce things up a bit.

Sometimes it isnt easy being one of us car guys.

Decisions, decisions.......

After Carlisle I will put all my attention towards it. I am bringing some of
the chrome to drop off at one of the vendors and look around for some parts. Well actually Stan will be bringing them down I will be in my 70, I enjoy the drive.
