Anyone Have a BubbleTop??
This is a top made my astro topps as a replacement for the T-tops. I like the idea of saving the wear and tear on my factory tops and am curious about your feedback...thanks Mike

you mean a one piece like this?
i hear the two piece astro tops are total junk. the one piece tops have mixed feelings.
they are made of acrylic, so they will scratch easy. (do you have glass t tops?) Your factory t tops will hold up just fine as long as you dont abuse them.
also i hear they leak (people say the factory t tops leak, but mine never have)
the astro tops mounts kind of goofy too. i just think its sort of cheesy, i dont see why they couldnt use the factory mounting hardware. well i do, that would cost more and eat into their bottom line.
also, and i am not sure about this, but i see no way of taking the top with you when it is off, and that is what i really like about my t tops and the one piece on the C6
anyway to each their own.
edit:
Have you looked into those "cloth" t tops. I know nothing about them, but for nice summer days they are intriguing. they fold into a small bag and you can take them with you and leave your t tops in the garage. Seems like they would be nice as for backups if you just get sick of having the sun on you, or hit unexpected weather.

I never heard of these tops before. I went to the web site and I agree that the installation does look a bit cheesy on their one-piece tops........
At first when I saw the heading of this thread I thought I would see tops like the one on the 61 Mako Shark. I thought someone was producing tops like that for convertible sharks.

I just bought a '77 that came with it. On my car it doesnt look bad, and what I have driven it I havent heard any air leaking in. It does have a large crack though so I am going to be replacing it, because the paint that is on it is custom so will cost more than I really want to have that all done. Will let you know how the new one is when I get it in.

IMHO All astro tops are cheap junk not worthy of a vette, while the do offer a bit more room up top they do not make up for it, and remember tI love custom but these were embarassing to have on my last show car

I am on my second Astro top. The first one lasted me about 10 years.
What happens over time is the rubber gaskets that surround the bottom edge get cracked and the glue that attaches them gives out.
You will have some attachment hardware hanging down inside, the rear corner attachments are kind of crappy..
For the price, I would recommend it. I think they look better from the outside then T-Tops..
Here is a link to a movie of my car with the Smoke Astro top on it.
