For the right money, you can have one made for you...

Here is the name of someone who remanufactures the plate
JOHN HAISLIP
7865 QUARTERFIELD ROAD
SEVERN, MARYLAND,21122
410-969-8890 FAX 410-696-8893
It runs about $200 for a brand new original reproduction.

What good are old protector plates? The original owner is printed out with his address and vin on the thing, only used for warranty situations and 99.9 % of the Vettes anywhere are not the original owners

Shouldn't` the initials read 'OPP instead of 'POP...'OPP stands for the 'Owners Protection Plan that is printed right on the warranty booklet supplied with a new car with the name and address of the owner plus the serial number of the car or Vette. Necessary when seeking repairs under warranty. I don't have a clue what
'POP stands for or what it means....Any ideas?.......

POP stands for Protect-O-Plate. Another valuable source of documentation. This metal plate the size of a credit card was used from 1965-1972 to assist dealers in tracking the options of General Motors vehicles for warranty purposes. The Protect-O-Plate was never meant to be used as restoration documentation but having the plate can validate the authenticity of your vehicle.

I should have known better that the POP is the plate 'included in the OPP 'owners protection plan booklet and on or attached to the back cover.......

The original P-O-P came with the VIN as well as the coded OPTIONS that the car came with, stamped in the metal. The dealer added the original purchaser's name and address, usually with plastic dymo tape. If the car was sold before the warranty expired, in order to transfer it to the new owner a substitute P-O-P was ordered from the factory. It was sent to the new owner directly and had only the VIN and his name and address stamped in the metal, no options listed. Therefore an original owner P-O-P is another form of documentation as to the car's authenticity.
