Car Show Lovers, rate my show board
Ok, some Guys & Gals love car shows & some are opposed to them. I happen to be an avid participant. I love the relaxation, the sharing of knowlege, the sun, the beautiful cars & women!!!
So from time to time I see participants with show boards stating things that arent readily apparent. Some things I always wonder when there is nobody around to ask, like HP, drive train, gear ratio. etc. I didnt list the obvious things like MSD or things they could see already.
It is amazingly stable even in "leaf blower" wind. HA!
So... what do you think?
Polished "big block" (for stability) aluminum fabricated valve cover.
Polished thread in stainless steel brace feet (longer ones for grass & uneven surfaces)
Stainless (with welded nuts) base that the actual valve cover bolts thread into. Brackets welded to base hidden inside to accept the threaded feet.
Black acrylic board, screen printed lettering
25th anniv. emblem & crossflag emblem
Valve cover = $0.00 (my brother's El Camino, engine swap w/x-tras)
Acrylic board = $0.00 (work scrap)
Screen printing = 0.00 (neighbor owns a minuteman print shop)
Stainless feet = $0.00 (work scrap, threaded in machine shop)
Emblems = $40.00 ($20 ea. here on forum, cleaned & painted)
Billet specialties breather = $0.00 (Bros El Camino)
Total investment = $40.00
Yup, winters get awefully boring here in the great white north!!

Ha! OCD, OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER, I shouldnt joke as I dont really have it & it is a serious handicap for some but people close to me claim I do as I get very involved with anything I do & worry about details even when nobody will ever notice or see them. It's pride I guess. If you ever need help with something or just with a design I love to help.

OK...except the '78 engine was an L-48. L-46's were only offered in '69 & 70. But, not many folks know the difference...and even less will spot the difference. The board looks "tasteful".

i like it!!! very nice maybe i will run in to you at a car show. we are that far away. i usually do 5 to 6 shows every year. I always try to expose my children to the car hobby, better than video games.

very nicely done, I like the valve cover base idea.
Was going to do somethign similar (I'm a car show fan to, its the only time i will ever sit still and relax for 5 hours straight!) but as my car seems to change every winter..white out and hand written changes wouldn't look real nice!

Very Very nice!!!! Could prove to be a lucrative cashflow thing for you during those looooooong WI winters (originally from Fond du Lac). Bring in more Vette parts (which is what we all live for).

Very interesting! The L-46 item will get some curious comments and that will be a 'discussion starter'. Talking about your car at shows is [at least] half the fun.
