Problem Solved go to the thread end
My headers are Hedman# HED-68286 (3" collector) and for the side pipe I have the patriot# PTE-H1060.
The original installation of the patriot pipes is under the frame and it's too low, and also the 90* pipe adapter go from 2" to 3".
I want to solved those two problems by:
1. Raise them by S-Band pipe, 4" offset.
2. Keeping the 3" diameter all the way.

mine are a little low as well, the price was right for the Patriots to see if i lkied sidepipes and yes i do so now i am looking at some hookers and they will fit higher.

I had Patriot side pipes on my 68 for a while, they would drag on everything , even the slightest rise in the road. You can see in the picture in my avatar how low they sit. They sit under the frame and the stock sidepipes sat more along the rocker panels. I am in the process of installing original style sidepipes from Sweet Thunder. I bought the ones that come without the connecting pipe that goes over to the engine. You use these when you have headers. You have your own pipes made up going over to the headers. The mufflers themselves are only around $350. Can use fiberglass covers.

Because of low installation of the patriot mufflers I want to raise them up by putting the S-band pipe in the front of the patriot muffler, the S-band have a 4" offset and I will have only one low point near the front where the elbow ~90* pipe go to the header collector so it will seat like the hookers.

How did you connect the 4 to 1 at the pipe that come from the engine, I saw that you have short headers and single pipe go from them?

Avner, I hand built my sidepipes, but I liked the Patriot heat shields so I used them. I'm also running the exact side-dump headers you are. I mounted my sidepipes just as high as I could without hitting the door, and just as tight to the frame as is humanly possible. They've never scraped or bottomed out. I just used 3" aluminized tubing with 3" auger baffles, but I don't see why one couldn't use the chrome tubing in the kit.

I know the engine likes to move around when under acceleration so I used a couple 3" flexible exhaust couplers I bought off e-bay. The exhaust dumps out the headers, runs through the couplers makes a not quite 90 degree mandrel bend and runs straight out the back through the baffles.

The jury's still out on the sidepipes, and I didn't want to commit to them just yet so I made the whole set up removable with no welding on the frame. there's a couple slotted holes in the frame, so I made a couple T bolts from some 1/2" carrige bolts to hold the whole thing on.



The whole thing could be prettyed up. The use of chrome tubing would look nice and make the perfect set of sidepipes...

I have the 90* chrome elbow but I didn't use it because the angel that I have from the Hedman collector to the side pipe is ~100* and it's go from 2" to 3" so I will made one piece include the 90* elbow & the S pipe 3"in / 3"out, and I will send it to chrome plate, also I put on both Hedman collector a Hedman reducers 3"in / 3"out - HED-21134, it have oxygen sensor bung for the feature.

Do you know a good place for the exhaust chrome plating?

I took mine off today, which was the plan all along while I had it in the air doing a million other things.

The car will become beached on a ripple in the road.

I'm planning on putting a chambered system in ASAP. I was looking at Mid America Motorworks.

Only one inlet is functional, the other three are dummys, but the one is plenty and they are only 280$ with mufflers so if they rust or pit in 5 years its easy off easy on with a new set.

I'm sorry I don"t. The only thing I've ever had chromed was the springer I put on the front of my old ironhead. I had that done locally. There's bound to be many competant chrome shops that could handle exhaust tubes.

I'm sure it affects the engine performance because of the changing of sizes.
That the reason that I make the custom elbow + S pipe to keep the size 3" all the way.

Now I'm working on the bracket's to attach it to the frame and the brackets for the chrome net cover.
After that I want to send the elbow part to chrome plating.
Do you know/recommend on a good shop/platter for exhaust chrome plating?

OK, I finish now the brackets to attach the pipes to the frame.
I made two brackets for each side, and each bracket has two screws that bolt to rivet nut at the frame.




Now the pipe seat high and I don't have ground clearance problem.
