It is a one year only, with the soft nose and chrome rear.
They do not bring the price of a chrome bumper comparable car.
Depends who you ask, if they own another year, that is best.
I like mine.

I've always thought that the '73 was a car with very clean lines. It retained the "dove-tail" rear end but had the molded, body-color nose. I still prefer the 68-72's over the 73's...but I never understood the [apparent] disdain for that year. Here it is...the only production year configuration in Corvette history that did not repeat itself...and few people seem to care. It has its following; but that group is small in comparison to fans of earlier C3's. Heck, there is as big a following for the '82 Cross-Fire model as for the '73.
Anyway, I [for one] like it and may have purchased a '73...if I had found a good candidate before I found my (present) '71. But, I do like my '71....

I love the 73's Thats why I have a pair. Ones hot and ones not... and from the doors back they look just llike the previous year but with a cowl hood, besides their very affordable. Makes for a great mid entry C-3

Been pondering this a long time having owned a '73 for 24 years. I feel like the bastard child, the '68-'72s and the '74-'82s can't decide who your mother was. I love my car because it's a Corvette but often have to think WTF were they thinking back then. Where do i fit in?

I relate the one year build of the 73 to the one year build of the split back window 63....they are both unmistakable. It is true, people will pay more for 68-72 chrome bumper car...but that is all relative to condition, drive train, options, and other. Due to the drop in horse power brought on by the Fed's...the 68-72 C-3's are more desirable.
73's have been coming in to their own over the past recent years and have their own nitch. If, you can find an L-82 or 454, 4-speed car in good original condition or one that has been restored, I think you will find the prices to be affordable. Most are under $26K and much lower, here again depending on condition. It really all boils down to what you can afford.
I love the lines and the total look of the 73....the smooth cove (no egg crates), the smooth front end, the chrome bumpers on the rear. As for me, after 73 it was all over for the C-3's. I am sure I will hear from the owner's of 74 and up with that statement...but thats my two cents worth and I am entitled to my own opinion.
I think if you are serious about buying a 73...do your research and you will come away with the thought of ....Let's go find one.

I purchased a '73 L-82 coupe, fully optioned out with factory documents to prove its provenance. The car was very low mileage, just over 15K. I thought it would be fairly desireable to Corvette enthusiasts, so I tried to sell it at Corvettes @ Carlisle a few years back, with no interest at all. I bought it for $16K and was really lucky to have found a buyer out West for $18K. The new owners were not even into Corvettes, they just happened to take their honeymoon trip in an exact duplicate of this car, and it brought back some fond memories for them, so they bought it.

i have a 73 coupe that i just restored. it has the best of both worlds crome bumpers and sleek nose just without the crome trim. but if they are not so liked in the area of vettes goes, then why are they going up in value so fast and are getting harder to find at a good price. i have been looking for another one but they are hard to find in good shape and a decent price.

Availability of '73 cars is about the same as '68-72 cars. Almost 40 years old and many are in the hands of collectors. 73's are being collected...they just don't have the following, or the demand, of earlier C3's. They are around; and right now they are in greater supply than in recent years, as some folks have had to sell.

I love mine. While I like all C3's and most Vettes, I like having a one year only car. I would like to have a chrome bumper car but they are out of my price range.

It is the last last of the chrome bumper cars. The price goes in-line with the muscle car era cars though, and by 73 it was over. There are positives for the 73 listed above, and I like them. Until a recent car show, I found out a neighbor down the street has a nice one, never knew it! He never drives it.
As with the 69, it had many 1 year features.
If it's what you want, go for it. For me, when I started looking, I already knew the year I wanted.

Everyone has his or her own taste. I bought mine because I knew the guy selling it so I got a very good deal. I didn't know much about Vettes at the time so the year was not that important. I liked it so I bought it. That was in Oct of 93. I still love it and never consider selling it.
