Y'all are going to tell me to walk the plank...
Well I'm selling my '81, after 5 years of ownership.
The new Camaro has me sold and I've no time to do what I originally intended with the vette any more.
Few people encouraged me to get a used C5 or C6, but that's still not what I want right now.
So I'm going to go for a Cybernetic Gray 1LT Camaro. 304hp, independent rear suspension... Do I really needa to name off all the features again? It has 300+ hp for less than 25k.
Only thing I'm undecided on is a manual or automagic. The 6 speed auto shifted REALLY nice, but I'm curious on the manual as it's a thousand bucks less... Stuff for me to try and decide!
So soon as this '81 is gone, new Camaro fills the spot. So someone better hurry up and bite on it before I drive it in to a wall out of impatience.
First ad I've posted for it is here on the forums because I figured it would at least get a loving home from here. I'd rather sell to an enthusiast.

No plank walks from me. I don't love the new Camaro... both the new Mustang and Challenger are more exciting visually. More connection to those I lusted after as a youth; kinda like my 77 Vette. If it makes your right foot itch so be it; I hope you love the thing!

Sorry, but I consider the V6 Camaro to be a bit of a little girl's car, kinda like the wife's V6 Mustang. No self respecting man should be driving a six cylinder unless all the cylinders are in a row or it burns diesel...

Don't sell sixes short. I got spanked at the track by a straight six in a T bucket that ran 11's! ............and my diesel has eight cylinders, thank you.

Yeah, you've got to walk the plank for this one....
Least you could do is upgrade to a better C3 (chrome)....
Or possibly a classic Ferarri, Porsche or Lambo (a relatively lateral move.......).

You might be sorry. You'll be seeing new Camaro's everywhere once you get yours and lots of gray ones too. Pretty much like when the Mustang came back, you see them all over the place. You don't see nice 81 Corvettes everywhere.

If you buy the V6 get the manual. But I do recommend that you test drive a V6 Auto, manual and a V8 manual- you will find that you will want to wait a little longer to save your money and get the V8.

Well I've test driven the V6 auto and it was pretty nice.
Now those that think the V6 is kinda pansy... You do realize it has almost twice as much horsepower as a vette did stock in the mid 70's, right?
I would be considering the C5 more if it wasn't for the fact that I want a backseat again! I don't like ferrying passengers, but if I GOTTA I'd rather at least be able to cram them in legally.
Then there's all the things I want... Working climate controls, anti-lock brakes, a warranty...
I'll trade up for a V8 in a few years, I'm not comfortable with a first year SS model. Granted the V6 will likely depreciate like a rock, it probably won't for a little while and GM has trade in discounts anyways. I've only owned a Pontiac and 2 Chevies... What can I say, GM makes the cars I like.
I don't wanna pick up a 4 banger to drive around and make myself want to vomit every time I get in it. I'm also kind of tired of replacing aging parts on the Vette... I didn't realize they put so much rottable plastic in these things...
Also, if I wait another year I'll likely end up spending another 3 or 4 grand on the vette so I can drive it every day, over the course of a year. I'd rather just have a new car.

Be sure before you buy that V6 Camaro. I bought a 97 V6 car new and regretted it almost immediately. Spent most of the time I owned it trying to come up with ways to boost the horsepower. The car ran a best of 16.10 at the drag strip. I eventually bought a 2000 Z28 to replace it. I still have the Z and still love it. The Z posted a best of 13.44 @ 107.45 mph at the same drag strip. That was on streets with an automatic tranny and 2.73 gears. BTW, I wouldn't put too much faith in the Chevrolet claims of 300 hp for that V6. I drove one several months ago when they first came out and they must be Shetland ponies, not full sized horses. My Z28 was rated at 305 hp by Chevy, and it would suck the doors off of that new V6. I haven't driven the SS model, but I hope they haven't used 426 of the same Shetlands in that car. Anyone driven the V8 model?

Well remember that V8 had a bit more torque, too.
I owned a '94 Firebird V6 and a '95 Camaro Z28. The Firebird was kinda cool, but didn't have enough for me. The Z28 was freaking awesome. The RS model I test drove with the paddle shifters had just about as much acceleration as that Z28, but I think the traction control makes it seem way more docile. I was trying to find the button to turn that off...
Anyone driven the new camaro with a stick yet? They're a lil harder to find here in SoCal because all the rich ***** don't care about an extra grand for a six speed auto.
Remember the Camaro has a Cadillac V6 instead of that old 3.4L thing or the 3.8L Buick. It has almost 2x as much power as the old 3.4 and 50% more power than the 3.8L. Pretty neat engine. Also, I've never really noticed as much brute force from a DOHC versus an OHV.

Walk the Plank......I picked a 2009 Chevy HHR SS /w GMStage1 which has 300HP and is a Turbo4. Plus can haul my great danes around and gets 31+ mpg combined city/hwy (over 10K miles on it so far). My vette is still in the garage!

2 words from the post above, brutal depreciation... all new cars will kill you in that...
I bought a 2001 vette in 2001 new.... cost me 17000$ in 32 months to drive that car 22000 miles..
