She started and ran for the first time in 20+ years
I still can't believe the day finally came. After taking over this project about 6 months ago it has been a trip. I have never done anything like this, neither has my credit card. I have learned lots, okay everything from this forum
The break-in went uneventful, I made a sacrifice to the Corvette gods that morning.
For the set up I set the initial timing around 10, but you see us messing around with it during cranking. After we got it running it was set at 38*.
For the fuel I got my hands on some 100LL, she liked that
For the oil I used Joe Gibbs BR30 Break-in oil + Comp cams oil additive. I have sent out the oil to Blackstone and will post the results.
I ran distilled water in the radiator just in case. As you can see in the video the radiator had a 100 degrees drop across it. The DeWitts and dual Spals kick A$$!!!
I ran Moroso Ultra 40 wires and NGK V-power plugs.
The headers were on there just for the break in because I have decided to put the ram horns back on.
I had 2 shut downs during the break-in. The first one due to the water temp gauge being pegged, even though the IR gun said things were okay I decided to be on the safe side. The problem was the gauge cluster not being grounded The second one because I forgot to put fluid in the power steering pump, I hope I didn't burn it up.
The next day I bled the brakes in the new SS system. No problems or leaks
Next on the list is the drive shaft and a wind shield so I can finally go drive it

That is a great feeling when they come to life for the first time. I was cringing when it was cranking and you had your arm over the carb. I have seen some nasty backfires, and you were in the right place for a bar-b-que. I am glad it worked out. Great job so far, Nice radiator set-up!!

Thanks guys!!!
I am fortunate to have a great hobby shop on base where I am stationed. They only charge 8 bucks a days and I can use all the tools they have. That wasn't me checking for a back fire I was inside cranking it up.
As far as the color I call it hippy camouflage. I still haven't decided on a final color. I am torn between the original color (Fathom green) or a color I really like (fathom blue)!

As promised the oil analysis from the break-in. The lead was from running 100LL ( I hope anyway ) The Zn and Ph were really high due to running the Joe Gibbs Break-In Oil and a bottle of Comp Cams break-in additive
Will post the one at 500 miles ( If I ever get there)
