Default 11.5K 68 Project car....

So I am doing a Florida search and find this one and at first was a bit excited since it's near my home,

http://longwood-florida.olx.com/1968...pd-iid-1757436

While he did a lot of work on it I don't know how much of that work is defunct from sitting around the last couple years,
The price was up there for a project in this state but then the boom drops, NO Title,
FL is bad about title issues, if it was so easy to get one why doesn't he have one?

The car is modded so no purists dream here, the car to me is close to a basket case in some ways, dig the SS steering wheel,

On this one am I off base to say a fair price would be closer to about 1/2 his asking price?

WOW, I think even 1/2 would be way to high..
Just that one picture is all I need to see to say no to drugs

Heck, add $4500 to that asking price and I'll sell you my 68..

They are out there. Here is a parts car to help rebuild.

Sorry no pics, and I would hate to see them anyway, enough to make you winch just thinking about another one up in smoke!

Hey...while it may or may not have a wiper door with it one could be added....

It's depressing, the car I started this tread about "might" be a perfect donor for me, but the seller who has not written me back as of yet priced it at 11.5, saying he won't give the car away,

I am not asking for a freebie just a price that reflect the cars condition,
Sadly too many times cars like these are not sold because of clueless and or dreaming sellers but allowed to just get worse and worse due to just sitting,

So a NOM '68 needing paint, where the last significant work was done 17 years go???

Anything over $3500 is a rip-off ...

Don't even think about buying something in Fla that has anything wrong with the paper work not alone no title.
Ask me how I know.

I agree with you about 1/2 the asking price and even that scares me. There's an awful lot of the esentials missing. We keep saying they're out there but you haven't found one yet. Sooner or later you'll find the right car at the right price. In the mean time these give us something to opinionize over.

Paul 74 ,
That isnt fair I have never said I wanted one of these POS's,
I am failing to express myself correctly,
I post these type cars because I am disappointed that in some way or many ways they are NOT the right donor for me,
Besides I know some of you love to critique this type of car.

If this car was a good price the title issues scare me, in fact I would wonder if this car could ever be legal,

Sure , I am anxious to get my doner but I am too cheap to buy trash,

Honestly, if he gave me that car I don't think it would be worth it to try to restore it. It has value for parts.

It looks like a fun project if you’re not going the original rout but the price is still up there. The problem with asking everyone's opinion is that most opinions are negative. I have asked about my three vettes and only had one positive feedback. And to this day, I have yet to have any regret for my purchases so if you have been patient and think this is the right car, get it.

That's a $3,000 car and maybe add a few grand for the BBC and the new parts. With no title it would really drop the value.

highschool67,
I am jealous,

1976 corvette,
Negative is good when we learn from it, even if it's not what we want to hear, fact is this is no 11.5K car, perhaps if parted out but that is a different world than what I am here for, the car even with all the work he did is still close to being a basket case AND is missing the title, I have to say all the replies I have had are right on target,

Guys,
I admit it I am depressed, I know more are out there and I would never buy a car with no title, I plan to call the DMV tomorrow but from what I know from calling before FL will not ever title this car,

I spoke with the top Lady at the DMV on this type stuff about a similar case, an out of state car, which this 68 vette is, the seller says he moved to FL and brought the car with him,

FL wants the car to have a good legal title and according to the lady if it doesn't it's not a car to them, forget it,
But just so I know I will call tomorrow to be sure,

What gets me down is right before I posted this thread I wrote the seller, I tried to be so cool and kind, I just asked if he would come down on the price to reflect the cars condition and lack of title,

Here is his reply to me, I have no idea how he got such a wrong idea about me and my intension, I guess this will be one of those cars that is for sale a very long time,

"NO THANKS!
There is always a cheaper Vette out there for you to Cut up.
And to be Blunt,
Its only a lot of work If you cant do the work your self..
I Can do the work, just dont have time anymore, Family first..
Ohh, and the Title, I haven't tried to get one.. Too be Blunt...
There is always people like you out there who tries to cut and Belittle someones else's Car just to see if they can , or just to ****** the hard work from some fallen into hard times person and make a big profit off os someone else..
I guess THATS sounds like you!
Go figure..
I see them everyday!
You have a good day now..
Please Dont re Email me.."

I didn't belittle him or the car I simply said it still needs a lot of work, ( an understatement )
I was not trying to cheat some fellow that is on hard times,
And I sure as hell don't look at this car as a profit much less big profit,
Perhaps he is bitter and angry that he must sell it, who knows
Just a car like this "might" be just right for my project,

Thanks for listening to me vent a bit,

sellers are allowed to ask what they want for the car... so what if 50 people say it is junk, then the 51st comes along and buys it at his price. the higher the price goes for the junk ( if it is junk ) the more the price for all cars are... which is good for a seller market.........

I could put a very high price on my car and most of you will laugh, but eventually along will come a rich guy or a european and they will pay my price...

how much effort are you expending looking for your car?... just over pay a couple of thousand and be done with it.. what you pay for the car is just a subset of the labor and thousands you plan on putting into it.. you won't care that you maybe did not get a great deal in the initial purchase...
