Brandshatch Green 71 - Barn Find???
I purchased this car the week of August 15th and as I take delivery of it I am learning more each day about it's origin. It appears to have been titled in North Carolina in July 2008 by a gentleman who passed away in October of 2008. I am trying to locate who may have sold it to him so I can trace the history. It has not been registered since 1985 as you can see in the pictures. Any information would be very helpful and please PM or post your ideas and thoughts.
Thank you for your help.

Yes, this is the guy that bought it, transferred it up to NY from NC. Owner prior deceased, I have his title now and his death record. Looking to go upstream. I will be the owner of record on this one as soon as I register it and title it here in the state of PA.
Thank you and I am glad to be a member of the Brandshatch green club.

Hi David,
Now that's what I'd call a REALLY NICE 'barn find'!!!
Most 'barn finds' seem to need to be dragged out of the barn and shoveled on to the trailer.
WELL DONE!!!!
Regards,
Alan

I do too. I talked with the owner's daughter and she and her sistre inheirited a 1965 GTO and a 1968 GTO that he refurbished. She said this was to be his first Corvette, but it wasn't to be. She said he did absolutely nothing to the car in the 3 months he had it, so I am trying to work upstream now and see if anyone has a clue whom in NC may have owned this car. He lived in Marshville, NC. If anyone knows where I might look next please let me know. His daughter agreed to look for a file folder listing the person he bought it from, but...we'll see.
More as I learn about it. Thanks for your help.

Hi David,
Take really good care of that interior. Dark green vinyl accounted for 7.3% of production second lowest. No one makes that correct color interior pieces, so be gentle with them. The carpet you'll probably have some luck with, and possibly the seat covers but not the rest. Great looking car. My favorite year as well!

slk230red,
Your very fortunate to have that interior is such wonderful condition, you might want to give 77sleeper a nice close-up of your loop style carpeting, as his is currently way off on original color presently.
The rarest interior color for '71 is red, which I have in one of my '71's, only 5.7% for years production.

In Ohio the title shows the previous owner's name. If you haven't transferred it yet see if their name is on it. If not the State's
DMV that issued his title may have the previous owner's name on file.
Good luck!!
