Like to know your thoughts on the above!!
Like to see pics of any lowered vettes and would also like to know if it has created any problems or concerns in doing so?
im also worried about the ground clearance!!

I lowered the rear of my '76 about an inch when I rebuilt the suspension, and it did look good. The front also came down slightly with new springs and rebuilt bushes.
Compared with standard height:
The exhausts did start hitting the ground regularly though. When my body-off resto is finished I don't think I'll have the rear that low. I'm not a huge fan of the 'slammed' look but a bit lower is cool. It's so easy to experiment at the rear.

Obviously a '78 but gives you the idea.
#330 composite rear spring with 8" bolts. 1 full coil cut from the stock front springs. Bilstein Sport shocks on all four corners. 255-50-17 Nittos on all corners. Ride and handling greatly improved being lowered and with better quality tires than are available in 15"

Haven't bought tires yet, but suspension-wise I've done exactly what BTAL describes above.
I think a slightly lowered car has a slightly more aggressive look.
BenUK's car seems to be going fast just sitting there in the lowered picture - I think the lowered stance makes it look like its "wound tight and ready to strike"

The fibreglass rear spring I installed at the same time rubbed against the tyrewalls too with the ride height set so low. I learnt that lesson the hard way.

looks great, love the pic!! can you tell me what the ground clearance is at the rear, as i would also be worried about the exhausts also.

Wow, The lowered look is cool, It seems to pull it off it would take a custom exhaust and remove the spare tire & cover. Look cool but it seems it would come at a price.

What's the expression "there's no free lunch"? The lowered stance looks good. It does come at a price though. The street rod and custom crowd uses a 4" minumim ground clearence as a guide. If you want the "look" you have to be carefull.

I prefer the lower look.
One coil off the front, shorter Gulstrand bottom leaf with 3 leafs removed and Koni shocks.
Don't hit anything with stock exhaust, suspension is pretty stiff, but the roads around here are probably the best in the country.
No front spoiler either.

Thanks. The car's in pieces now so I can't tell you what the ground clearance was, but I'd guess it was less than 4" between the exhausts and the road under the diff.

I went to a car cruise the other day and parked next to a 68 or 69 that had been lowered and it was really nice especially being able to compare side by side. This is definitely on my list of things to do in the future. Does anyone have a kit to do this? Like say if you have a big block with these springs and these bolts for the back you will lower your car 1inch. It really is a nice look.

Safety Car
Lowered, but not slammed, so still driveable, but do hit a few driveway entrances with my lower air dam.
FRONT: 3/4 turn cut out of 460lb coil for 27 5/8 inch fender height with 27 inch tire (255-60-R15s) Bilstein Sport shocks
REAR: New 9leaf 2.5inch steel spring with 10inch bolts cut down to 9inch and almost maxxed out on thread adjustment with 28.0 inch fender height height with 27 inch tire (255-60-R15s) Bilstein Sport shocks
I didnt go any lower as my wheels are 3.75 backspacing, which pushes them out 1/4 inch, and the sidewall protrudes past the fender edge openings with the outer tread edge even with the outer fender edge. Want to avoid contact at this location.
This backspacing also helps to avoid any inner sidewall tire contact with the spring/9 inch long bolt combo in the rear.
