any ideas for more horsepower
well ive been searching around and have learned i cant put a supercharger into the 1982 vette because i would need a new hood and im trying to keep the body stock and not change the injection or engine... so im kinda at a dead end, is there anyway to change stock parts that arent too major to increase my acceleration, i could care less about top speed.
so any opinions would be great thanks

Safety Car
Rear gears will be your biggest bang for the buck from my experience. Changes the entire character of the car, for the better. I went with 3.07s.
The CFI is a small block Chevy with dual throttle body fuel injection and responds to the same mods and any other small block would. The catch is the aftermarket does not really support these motors much. DCS has the Renegade intake coming around and this is proven to be bolt on power in the 25-30 horse range.
Here is what I put out on a previous post a while back:
For the CFI you start at the air intake and go all the way to the exhaust outlet in order to gain any real performance in my opinion.
For keeping the stock ECM, this seems to be the recommendations:
1) Cold air mod-remove the hood solenoid flapper door for 100% cold air always.
2) Tape off the air cleaner housing insides with metal bodywork tape so only air from hood intake is fed into the air cleaner
3) K&N Air cleaners
4) Ported CFI intake-remove EGR hump and EGR. Block off EGR intake at center of intake ports to keep manifold cooler. (or get the Renegade)
5) Crane 2030 cam with Comp Cams 1.6 RR or even a 2040 cam maybe
6) Keep stock heads or go Dart Iron Eagle S/S heads 165cc runners 72cc chambers
7) Stans tri-Y headers or something similar
8) True dual exhaust or no cat on OEM exhaust
9) Free flowing mufflers
Other items of note:
10) 85 fuel pump
11) taller rear gears 3.07 3.23 3.54

Are you wanting to just amp it up a little or make big numbers? You might be able to get a custom prom burned that will turn it up a little by correcting fuel mapping and timing.
Even if you want to get some big numbers or seat of the pants feel, the suggestions above can apply.

I'll agree with Brent on most items.
With your stated budget and if your bottom end is solid, I'd also go for the Renegade intake, 2.0 bored throttle bodies and new heads. But if you're keeping the crossfire style setup I wouldn't go over 180 cc on the intake heads. The crossfire is fussy on keeping up velocity. This may get close to crossing that line where you have to replace the ECM and get into tunning, but its probably still good.
If you decide that tunning and replacing the ECM is your path then there are many more options. Sticking with the stock ECM means you have to keep it happy.
You'll get a lot more info about what works and what has issues over at the crossfire injection vault that's a good place get ideas.

Drifting
There was a guy that had an ad on Springfield, Mo. Craigslist for a dual paxton supercharger set up for SBC that was dirt cheap. (Like, under $1,000) Everything went with it, pulleys, brackets, etc.

For years I tried alot of the recommendations, except new heads, cam. When I went to a 3.55 rear end, it woke up. Overwhelmed everything else I did. Only drawback? 15mpg - or less, because I can't keep off it. Oh - on concrete, breaks rubber in second gear.
