Default Whats this car worth? I'm gonna put her up for sale.

1974 Stingray. 350 / auto, a/c all original right down to the am/fm radio. Buckskin leather interior, runs and drives great, super, super clean interior and just had a professional repaint in the original burgandy met. It's really a wonderful car that is ready to go, I hate to sell but I need to use the money out of this on the next project. I'm in Northern Indiana and the car has around 80,000 miles on it. What should I ask for it?

Next project is a 56' Ford F100 pickup. I've got the chassis pretty much done, still got a ways to go. (sorry for saying the f work on here).

8k if it has A/C, and everything under the hood, and inside and underneath looks as nice as the paint.

If you want to sell it fast, you could do it at 6K, with the same conditional stipulations mentioned above.

What do I think it should be worth, or what do I think you can get for it in today's economy?

I think it should be worth $12K-$15K, but for some reason, '73 and '74 coupes, around me anyway, just don't seem to be moving at all. I think I am a little higher than wer2xu on what I think you could get for it today, but not a lot. I see decent cars for sale forever asking $8K, but I think yours is in better condition than those. I think yours will move at $8K, I would ask $10K - $12K, depending on how fast you want to try to sell it, but say the price is negotiable. Hell, for $6K, if the underside, interior and engine bay are as nice as the outside, I'd buy it from you.

Thanks for the input guys! The car does have a/c and it even works, it is super clean on the underside too. The interior does look every bit as good as the outside. I was hoping to ask about 12,000. for it with some room to negotiate, I think thats where I'm gonna be. Thanks again. Tim.

You should advertise it for $15K. You [probably] won't get it, but you'll have a better chance of getting $12K than if you start there. With the new paint, working A/C, and good condition of the car, $12K is within reason. You shouldn't even consider anything less than $10K.

Good thing this isn't OT or I'd have to ask about the hottie in the orange dress.

I think $12k is about tops right now, even though your car looks very nice. Just a bad time to sell. How are other things selling in your area? I'd show it w/o the tops, this time of year a drive with the top open might do the trick.

haha, I agree about the hottie. too bad she is some 16 year old at the high school prom. Those pics were taken when I let my daughters date take her to the prom in that car. (Relax, the chick in the orange dress is not my daughter). The car is the correct color per the color code on the car, technically I think it was called dark red by GM but it looks more burgandy. The buggy is one of those ''green energy vehicles'' that nets 1 horsepower. Those have some really nasty exhaust on them from the factory!

Default Nice car!

I suggest check completed sales on ebay.

Also suggest you sell on ebay and put the starting price at the absolute lowest you would take with no reserve. Ebay opens you to a national and maybe international market which gets you the best price available. Also post with many, many pictures with the good and bad. Show the potential buyer as honest description as possible, good to get another critique by an objective party as it is hard to be objective about your car in a writeup. More risk and unknowns to the buyer means less money to the seller. Good luck!

Let the car go for $11,000.00 today, seemed like top dollar for this area. I am happy with that and so is the new owner. Still got my hot rod 76', so life is good. Thanks for all the input guys, hope this helps anyone else wondering what you can get for a similar car.

This is what drives me nutso! A very nice original clean freshly painted vette... a bargain at $12k, yet you will likely have trouble finding a buyer. (I see - let it go for $11) And yet, time after time we see guys paying $8 or $9k for absolute junk that will never be what this car is right now and would take $5k to even get close. Or worse, they pay $15k sight unseen for a rusty frame with shiny paint that the seller promised was in showroom condition.

ok, you said it was all original. I can't see the split in that rear bumper... is that the pic, or replacement rear bumper? I like 74s.. maybe because I can tell what year they are by looking at the rear bumper!

As long as your happy. The buyer got a great deal IMO. I guess both buyer and seller end up happy on this one.

It is all original, for some reason you can't see the split in the bumper in that pic. Here is a pic that should make you feel better. It was a nice car, but I'm happy with the money I got for it. Do you guys realize I live in ELKHART county Indiana??? Do you watch the news? We are the hardest hit area in the nation economically from the RV industry falling on its face. I'm quite pleased to have found a local buyer to come see the car in person and give me 11 grand. He got a wonderful deal and I got a decent amount for it given our local economy. I want to use the storage space and funds for another project and don't want to deal with people thousands of miles away that can't see the car in person, or wait forever for a sale. I'm happy & he's happy, I'm glad I was able to give him a great car for a great price!
Thanks guys, Tim.

I'm not an expert, but maybe right now isn't the time to sell it. You might be better off hanging onto it for awhile untul economy improves.
Just a thought.
