Default Torque thrust style wheel with black center.

Looking for a torque thrust style wheel with a black center for my 69 vert. I haven't been able to locate anything that is a for sure fit and clears calipers. Looking for 17" prefeered but 16" would be ok too. The car is in my corvette pictures, I think it's screaming for a wheel like this, personally but oppinions welcome

Thanks

Would you consider powder coating or painting your existing wheels center black? Your wheels would be perfect for this conversion.

You're right a black center with polished lips would look great with the white corvette - I too considered it but opted for the polished aluminum TT II's.

I painted my TTIIs gray in the center. Black would look good on a white car.

I also was looking for this option. American Racing sells the Bullet which is a black center TTII rim but it's a Ford bolt pattern. I called and asked if they could make me a set but never heard back. I also asked Coys if they could powder coat a set black and they said no :-(
New rims come out all the time so I plan to watch this thread. I also would like to see some rims that people had powder coated and hear how much was charged to have it done.

Vintage Wheel Works has 2 "classic" 5 spoke wheel styles to choose from. The centers have an "as cast" finish. You can paint them with this. http://www.duplicolor.com/products/wheel.html It works great and lasts. I know for a fact that some of the "classic" style wheels are only painted not powder coated by the manufacturer so I don't think you have to go through the powder coat process.

Pat,
I think the dark centers would look good also.
I think you are stuck with the TTII's in that rim size.
Paint or powder coat them.
I went "period correct" No spacers and stuck with the 15"s.

Tire Rack sells these. American Racing Vintage Torq-Thrust D Anthracite They come in 16 x 8 with the right backspacing. I think they will bolt up with no spacers. I'm going to call tomorrow and confirm. I'm thinking of buying a set myself.

Coys now do a C5 with black centers.
But you can easily paint the centers of your wheels any color you like, just takes a little patience and a couple of hours.

I think you're right. Here's some pics of some on a '77. These are painted gray though. 1977 Chevrolet Corvette Photos

You mean like these?

They are awesome and fit perfectly with no spacers. I'm sure you can have someone refinish the centers black. (or do it nyourself as several others have suggested)

These are 235/60-R16 Michelin XGT. I believe you can go to 255/60-16 with no issues.

Went with TTII, grey center with polished lip
Size 15 x 8 with 4 inch backspacing
AR said they would fit but did need spacers on back,
but very happy with the choice !
