Repairing Cibie peeling relfector
As stated in title. I bought two lights off that auction site and one of the lights has a very bad peeling/pitted reflector. It has been suggested that I put the light in the oven to heat it up to soften the glue and remove the lense. Then polish the reflector. I'm not sure if this will work but it is the only option left I guess. What would I use to polish the reflector? Would steel wool work? Or is there a polishing agent I could use?

YES the silvering is peeling off. I don't think Autozone sells Cibie.. (I'm in Canada and don't have Autozone anyway). To buy a new one is $80-$90. I was hoping to be able to fix the one of the two I have. If not polishing it is there a 'silvering' I can apply????????

Don't know of anyone that sells the silver reflective stuff. Why does it have to be Cibie brand? There are other manufacturers of headlights for Vettes. Any auto parts store near you should sell them for no more than $12 US each.

They have the H4 bulb in them. It's too late to buy something else. I NOW have THESE Cibie lights. I like these lights and have had them before. I don't need a discussion on something else or what I SHOULD have bought.
How do I fix this? Is it possible? Or did I just make a bad deal on a set of lights where only 1 is usefull.

Vettepower I'm sorry you took my comment so personal.

Are they Halogen? If they are, then you can still pick these up rather cheap at any auto store. They have a great lighting power also.
If all you can suggest is buy something else when I was asking how to fix it then please don't offer any more advise. (this you CAN take personally)
bought used piece of crap lights!!!
If you do your research these Cibie lights are highly regarded on this site.
He is talking about the reflective coating on the back of the headlight!! And then polishing the glass headlight itself!!
Yes I am talking about the reflective coating on the back of the headlight!! and THAT is what I want to polish NOT the glass and it is metal.
Now back to the original topic.
I have some rust remover compound that I think I will try and see what happens.
