w/s wipers only work with door/hood open
Could not find anything on search about this. 74 coupe only works with door pin and hood pin open. If I push the rear door switch or hood switch in they stop dead in tracks. Any thoughts. Thanks

Sounds like a bad ground. I think it may be getting a ground thru the switchs when the contacts are closed. Check the ground circuit for the wipers or run a ground (temp.) from the engine to the wiper motor and that should tell you if the ground is missing or you can take a test light attach it to a ground and probe the motor with the other end. If it lights the ground is missing.

OK. Found this hanging down by the firewall. It's not black but when I ground it, the wipers and blower start working. Is this the ground that I am looking for and does it ground on the bellhousing?

That's not a ground wire. The only wires that I know of that have the fabric wrapping are connected to the coil and the starter. It looks like the color is pink and pink wires are usually HOT in start/run key positions. Looks like engineering guru Bubba did some work in the electrical system at some point. You should get a wiring diagram and try to figure out what isn't connected properly in the wiper system.
