Default My 77 Resto Progress......and your opinion....PICS!

Heres what I have so far and im actually getting close to the finish line!

Heres the car when I picked it up!

Heres after I started working on it.

Frame off, added steeroids system and street slalom suspension kit.
Muncie 4 speed trans with hurst shifter.

Custom interior, putting in white face gauges and mahogany and leather steering wheel this week.

Decided to work up engine a bit, put on hugger headers, performance cam, new intake, new carb, ect.ect.ect. Havnt decided which air cleaner yet.

Needed higher cowl with upgraded engine so put on new L88 hood.

New tires and rims with matching color spinner center caps. 235s in front 275s in rear.

Ok, heres whats left.....

Sound system
Door gaps need to be fixed then repaint same color (there are a few oversparys and blemishes), more clear coats.
Moonroofs, being painted right now.
Chrome pullerys, water pump, timing chain cover and balancer, and brake booster.

NOW HERES WHERE I COULD USE OPINIONS

SIDEPIPES?
REMOVE LUGGAGE RACK?
Baldwin Motion/Grand Sport style Roller Latch Fuel Cap?
ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS?

Thanks.

Very nice!!! Great job with the details.

As far as the luggage rack goes, don't remove it now after having painted the car unless you can repair the holes and blend it in. I removed mine from my 72 LT-1 but yours doesn't look bad and you may have a problem matching the paint (plus the holes shrink many times leaving dimples depending on how they are filled).

I might have painted the motor orange to match the car instead of the original blue. But it still looks great.

To each their own but I don't like the orange spinners on the wheels. Looks like pinwheels, but that's just my opinion and it's your car and you should have it your way. (you asked though ).

I think the rear of it looks increadible. I like sidepipes and some hookers would look great and give it some more bad-azz with the l88 hood.

Congrats and enjoy it!

Looks great. I can fully appreciate the amount of work you have put into your car. I would go with the round air cleaner. There have been discussions in the past about the foam air cleaners and how a backfire through the carb can set them on fire. It would be a shame to see all of your hard work go up in smoke.

First I would say very meticulous work. Very nice.

The 2 things that caught my eye were the air cleaner, known to catch fire, and the fuel inlet line angle at the fitting is looking fairly severe.

Cant wait until spring Im sure.

Those foam air cleaners will also deteriorate and could find its way into the carb.

What shade of Orange is your Vette?

Even though I thought I was decided on a Silver finish for my 71..., Looking at your car makes me realize that I might not be able to decide between Siver and Orange until I'm ready to paint my car.

From the pics (at least on my computer) it looks like atomic orange. But I could be wrong....

The car looks great! I think that side pipes would look very good on it. As for the luggage rack, it's there and looks good (as far as luggage racks go), but it wouldn't be heartbreaking to see it gone.

Keep up the good work!

You have done a great job on your vette, very tastefully done. But since you asked for suggestions, I would take the spinners off. Side pipes would look great on her.

Nice job! Love it! I agree with comments about fire safety. I went with the Stock L88 cleaner with flame arrester, cowl induction with cold air insert in hood. No more problems. That hood will ignite easily(did it). Personally I would badge the hood (stock placement) with my CI displacement(or lower if you want to wooop the kids), to me it looks plain with nothing there. Big numbers on the hood may balance out the luggage rack.

Well it looks like a consensus. The edelbrock air cleaner will stay, foam one gone.
The color is Gamma gold by house of color, it actually looks like a copper orange with metalic sparkle, really cool in person.

Sorry, the spinners stay, (by the way they dont spin, theye center knockoff style tri bars) one of my favorites on the car, pictures dont do them any justice, but in person everyone loves them, my car anyway so to each his own.

Gonna do the sidepipes, not sure about luggage rack yet.

thanks for the opinions and suggestions!

Looking good.
I would say loose the luggage rack if you still have paintwork to do (I think you said the doors need doing after sorting the shut lines?). If you do do it then grind the surrounding area of the mounting holes, fibreglass over them and build it up so you dont get any shrinkage or cracking.
If you ever decided you want the luggage rack you can always re drill the holes, but you cant remove the holes once the paintwork is all finished. I have always preferred the lines of a vette without, and besides a Vette was never made to be practical so why pretend by putting a luggage rack on?

You should be pleased with your work, its looking good

Seat covers were done locally to me, in Hainsport NJ, Ed's Trim Shop, Paint was done by me...Guess thats why im gonna have it done over, I made some boo boos, not bad ones but enough to bother me, I need some minor body work anyway, just too picky I guess.
Cost me less than 500 for the paint job, but I did it myself with the body off. Front and rear are not stock, Ecklers parts, front is 80s, and rear is zr1.

First off, I love that color, it looks great with the interior colors.
I vote for keeping the luggage rack, I think it would tie in with the chrome on the side pipes that you plan to install.

Car is going to get a full repaint, well recoat, gonna wet sand down to base coat, fix blemishes and recoat with another layer, then re clear it a few times over. Thought if Im gonna remove luggage rack, this would be the time. And adding balwin chrome gas cap might help with evening out the chrome in the rear. Foam air cleaner is HISTORY!
