Default my bubba story

I thought you guys would get a kick out of this. I have been working on the electric fan/alternator upgrade today. (thanks to durango boy for putting up with a lot of questions)

before i went to the local auto parts store for the alternator i thought i i would try the local corvette salvage yard.
they have maybe 100 or so c3s-c5s around the yard. i found a newly arrived 90 that the engine still cranked and ran so i figured the 30 dollar price for the alternator was a good deal.

they cut the battery wire because they couldnt get it loose on the car.
over the next 30 minutes i watched this guy beat, torch, pound, hammer, and pry on the nut that holds the batt wire on the back of the alternator. he finally got the nut off after completely stripping the threads and spraying maybe 10 ounces of pb blast inside the casing.

he then got mad that i didnt want it anymore. the guy that spoke english left after he told the mechanic to take it off so when he got back and i explained that i had been trying to tell the guy to stop and he couldnt understand me but kept pounding they wanted to charge me for "their time"

i felt so bad for that poor alternator. if car parts could scream.
go figure.

Reminds me of a similar trip I made once

I wanted the rear vision mirror and apparently it was too much effort for the guy to unbolt it from the car, so he stabbed a huge pair of steel cutters into the door, cut half the door skin off that the mirror was attached to and then handed the jagged mess to me!

Gotta love trips to the wreckers.

If there's one truism that working on my C3 has taught me, it's the 'If you want something done right, do it yourself'. Or contact Van Steel, Willcox or GTR1999....
Looks like a trip to autozone for you.
