Removing front navigation lights
The two lights on a 74 Vette that are on the front of the front fenders. My lenses are missing and I have to replace the entire light assembly in order to get these lenses. What is the best way to remove the light fixtures. From underneath the car I can reach the two retaining bolts but would not be able to drop the lights (not enough room). Do I remove the structural support under the bumber to get to the lights or remove (turn) the front wheels? Also what color were and are these lenses? Clear? or amber? Thanks for your help.

Once you remove the retaining nuts, the lights are removed from the outside so they will just come right out of the molded cups they are set into.

Purchase the 1974 assembly instruction manual (AIM) when you order your replacement markers. The AIM has diagrams of how the cars were assembled at St. Louis. It will answer you light installation questions and thousands of additional things.

I lost one of those lenses on my 73 a while back. I picked up a decent used complete assembly off of EBay, cut the metal cup part off carefully so as not to damage the lens, and used a thick adhesive (it had the consistency of caulk) to put the lens into my old metal housing. I pulled the assembly out of the car to do the job, but I suppose it's conceivable that it could be done with out removing them.
