Will 275/55R17 fit on a 68 vette
Hello everyone still waiting for my car to come out of the body shop;had off frame rebuild ! I'm looking to put 275/55R17 on the rear Has anyone done this !

255/60R15 are just about a perfect rear fit (27.0" versus 26.9" for the F70-15). They're ever so slightly too big for the front, I use 245/60R15 on the front...the 255s rubbed.
You can do 275, but you'll need some offset TAs or other modifications.

255/60's just barely fit. some have gotten away with 265/60's but that is very rare without mods (each well is slightly different, car to car). if you use this tire calculator http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
you'll see that your intended tire has no difference in sidewall than 255/60's so you won't be gaining any space there... and then you're trying to add more width. it's not gonna happen. if your suspension is correct and the car sits true, 255/60's will fill the well perfectly with barely any gap and no rubbing issues.
