I always th9ought the black plastic shields were in the door to guard the latch assembly from water draining through.

I forget totally what those washers are for.

By any chance does your car have manual windows. I think the washers are for the stem behind the door panel.

I just rebuilt my doors and windows and did not see washers like those in my 78. There is a similar plastic washer that goes on the window where it bolts to the roller but mine arent cut like that. Manual windows? could be the spacer behind the crank...?

Correct, the black plastic is to channel the water that comes in from the door handle away from the rest of the moving parts in the door. I remember that from when I restored mine. The washers ..... hmm... not sure!

Those washers go under the carpeting where your seat belt bolts to the floorpan. Not sure if those are the only spot, but I know there are washers there that look exactly like that in the space under the seat.

If I remember right that washer is more of a anti seizing spacer.I think its purpose is to allow the belt assembly to rotate a little each way.If any water gets in and around the assembly it might try to seize to the floor. Not sure how much effect this would have on the operation of the seat belt.

Thanks again guys those washers are staying out. Seat belts work fine no binding or any problems.
