Show us your custom tools, improvements and fixtures to improve the hobby
So, we have seen garages, girls, flares and sidepipes.
How about those creative tools you have fab'ed up? Jigs built to hold stuff or improvements to junk tools?
I'll start;
Here is one of those import presses seen in several threads on the forum. Problem is they are shipped knocked down. When bolted together it just isn't tight. But a few minutes with the ol' Miller Mig does the job
Where do you park the engine stand when the engine is finally in the car? Turn it into a flourecent light stand! About $8.00 of chain link fence parts and a discarded 4 foot light fixture.

I'll get some shots of my transmission service stand. I was tired of propping up the trans with bricks or whatever was handy to work on the valve body, then leaning it against a table to set the clutch assemblies in, so I made a real cool stand to hold the trans still while I work on it. It'll even hold a trans suspended straight up and down to set the clutch assemblies in. It works nice.

I'm impressed with "Stinger 12"s u-joint flange backing plate. It would saved me from buying a new backing plate. Wish he was my next door neighbor instead of our neighbor to the north.

Sure i'll give it a go
A piston stop for finding TDC. Spark plug anti fouler drilled out and tapped to fit a bolt that has been rounded and smoothed on the end (adjustable).
A rolling body dollie made of lawnmower parts, low to ground and steerable with pneumatic tires. Sat on it for 2 years, lol, and low to ground for clearance in any garage.
Also, not shown, a lathe turned rear spindle for setting bearing preload, various push clamps for tranny repairs (internal), a slip on steering rod for moving the frame around without body, cam bearing tool, and a few more I dont recall at the moment.

i built a custom coil spring compressor to better fit the suspension of my 80. it works a million times better than a normal coil compressor, made it out of some acme rod, and some other welded parts, will take pics of it when i have time. Nice custom tools btw!

Same place as the fabricated straps. The hook grabs the birdcage channel at mount #2 and #3. The strapping material itself comes into contact with the body and not the metal part of the hook.
I found the fabricated starps require too high of a lifting point. the ratchet straps can be adjusted to shorten that point. You can buy 4 of those for about the same $$ as the body lift harness. Afterwards they have multiple uses whereas the body harness does not.

I didn't position the straps the same as SUPERPOWERS. I routed behind the windsheild and in front of the targa roof. I know, its not a targa but I don't know what to call it.

here are some pics. This is way better than using the strap kits. The adjustability is great, I bought 2 of each type if strap and combined them. (look at the ends of the straps) And then bought some d-rings at the local farm supply store.

Small tool but a good one for me. Antenna wrench
Made out of adjustable grinder pin wrench, just ground the pins flat to fit. works like a charm and no paint damage
