Default c3-71 rear end

rear end problems!
hot rim after driving.
left rear brakes where on i thought.
did the brakes,new hoses freshened up the calipers.
drove around the block, but still same prob.jacked up left rear, could only move the wheel halfway round.wheel bearings i thought.right side was no problem when i tested. disconnected drive shaft to check bearing,but they seemed fine. no play what i could feel,rotor turned easy.. left strut rod bushing is gone!! what has happend.rear axle???
oil is up to level..please help!!

Sounds like the parking brake is draging. Did you adjust it?

Had a similar problem except the front brakes. Replaced the master cylinder, cured everything.

thanks! but i still had the problem when i took off the caliper.and first when i loosened the drive shaft i could turn the rotor!!

When you jack the car up you're not supposed to be able to turn the wheel because of the angle of the joints in the drive shaft (at least mine won't). Jack the trailing arm up slightly and the wheels will turn.

The heat problem could be caused by the parking brake dragging. The parking brake is a drum brake system, it does not use the brake calipers!
