Default Pulling inserts

What is the trick to pulling out the inserts, in my case, glass packs? Have about 2,000 miles on the pipes. Don't think they are too sooted up yet.

Drop the side tubes on a block of wood, the inserts will usually be persuaded

Mine were in for about 12 years. Was a bugger to get the pipes off, but the inserts came right out with a short drop onto a sheet of plywood.
