Default C3 Soft Top for a T-top

Well, I got my soft tops for my coupe and they look to be well made! There made by a company called Amtop inc out of Troy Michigan, has any heard of this company and there product line? Are there still around? These tops have the triangle female post to receive the male triangle bolt on my pillar. I suppose this was a lucky find, any input on this? Thanks! AL.

Default Soft Top For a T-Top

The ones I got were in excellent shape a cost me around $170.00 used. The one thing that suprized me was having the triangle female receiver to receive the triangle stud on the pillar post and made here in the USA!!! I've looked and have not seen any thing even close to the way these are made and can't understand why some companies wouldn't make the investment to bring these back. This should have been a hot seller, come on, we all love our coupes but to carry a custom painted part of your roof in the back of your car is scary! AL.

They are a better design than the ones you see for sale these days. They come up for sale once in a while. Keep your eyes open and you might get a set.

Those tops were patented in 1980. I believe the company went out of business in 1985, however.

I don't understand why these things would be desireable...Seems like they would flap in the wind(noisy), and if it rained, it wouldn't keep the rain out. It's kind of like replacing a hard-top with a soft-top. Am I missing something here?

They have weatherstrip around the perimeter and they have a steel frame to support the canvas. They are good to have if you leave the hard tops at home and need coverage for an unexpected rain event. They weigh a lot less than a hard top too. Most people leave them behind the seats. They do not flap around in the wind.

For the fair-weather driver who MIGHT be caught in a rainstorm they are ideal. They fold, are light, and do not take up much space.

As far as missing something? Yes! As Mark posted they have metal inside structure and this keeps the material tight and they do not flap around. The other part is wieght and amount of room taken up in you small rear compartment and last (one of my biggies) is not having the worry of scratching up you painted tops, AL.

Corvette Central sells a item called Soft Top. Not sure on the quality of these but it looks like a great idea for those that love to cruise without the tops in the back.
