Default Am I too tall?

Hello all. I'm new to the forum. I currently own a '94 6spd coupe; it's a tight fit..but I love my 1st Corvette. (I'm very tall) I really love the coke bottle style of the '80-'81 C3 and I'd love to buy one. However, I'm 6'5" tall. Anyone out there who's around my height? Can you give me any advice...will I be able to fit into that model year? I'd like to find onw with tilt/telescopic wheel...I'm sure that would help me.
Thanks for any info you can share.

No worries, I'm 6.7 and I managed to fit into my 68 coupe without tilt/tele wheel. Anyhow, now I purchased 68 vert (also without tilt/tele), as I prefer slightly more room for my haircut

If you love it, you'll fit somehow. My friend Jon is 6'4" and gets into his Fiat X1/9. He bought it when he was 19 and owns it to this day. (a little over 20 years) With the targa top off his head sticks above the windshield frame, but he loves driving it.

I don't think you have a problem. I'm 6'1" and I had plenty of room in my '82.

I'm 6'3" and am comfortable. My head has about an inch of head room.
Getting in, I sit, then swing my legs in. My seats are all the way back and adjusted at maximum recline position.

I'm 6'5 and I fit just fine. The only problem I have is my big foot and the gap between the gas pedal and the break pedal. But that is a hack saw away from being fixed!!!

SCCA would not let me take my headliner out as i wanted. my helmet was touching the roof, I fit like a glove I didnt need the hans device
( just kidding I actually did need it as I did A 360 in turn 11) I think it was.
This was in my older 77 not my car I have now, have not tried to get a helmet on and get in the 75.

There is a bit more headroom with the glass roofs. I am 6' 4" and fit fine in the '80 with either style roof. Peace,,, moosie

6'6" here, without T-top trim I fit in my '76.
I'm planning on removing my seat rack to get a little more space.
I once tried a '81 and felt stuck again the door, I guess later C3 had more lateral collision protection. My '76 offers much more room for my arms.

I'm 6'2" with size 12 (US size) shoes. I take my shoes off when I drive my 68. The first reason is that I don't want dirt from my shoes to get my medium bright blue carpet dirty. The second reason relates to the closeness of the pedals. I have manual brakes and have to use a lot of pedal force to stop the car. It really helps to operate the brake pedal by curling my toes around the top of the pedal. No worry about the foot slipping off. Also of course no interference between the brake and gas pedal. Operating the clutch is also convenient when I wrap my toes around the clutch pedal also. Gives a lot of control moving the clutch pedal up and down. Your toes can work like little fingers so it's a comfortable feeling without shoes. I always wear slip on shoes (no shoe strings) so I can take my shoes on and off quickly.

i have more trouble negotiating the pedals with my size 13's than I do with my 6'2" height... I'm actually pretty comfortable in my '74 with the seats fully back and the wheel fully telescoped out

Holy crap... I'm 6 foot with a '78, and now I feel like I'm not tall enough to own it.

I'm 6'4", 195lbs, long legs and no problems in my '77. still have about 1" clearance on head, great riding with the t's off, don't get much wind, use my sunvisor tilted on angle to get rid of most wind.
Have fun

At 6-3, I had to make some minor adjustments. Tilt wheel was a must and I had to shorten the turn signal stalk to keep my leg off it when shifting. Plenty of head room in the convertible with the top up.

6'5" With a '72 vert....extra lumbar vertebra so tall in the spine, age 66 so artiritis for some 27 years....added a late shark TT column and wheel early on, bent the t/sig lever toward the wheel, shortened it a inch too...kept my left knee off it when shifting the muncie...has been changed to overdrive automatic now, so the clutch pedal was cut off....kept the stock brake pedal....

took the seat belt cover off, used OEM foam in the seats when recovered, added a light pad where needed, and removed the two rear flanges off the tracks for lowering the seat about 1.5" or so, removed carpet/padding under the front seat bolts for maybe 1/2" or so....

cut a nice wide U along firewall/floorboard and up to the height of the steering column, moved it forward about 3", and cut/heat bent/welded the pedals about 3" further forward.....dropping my knees off the steering wheel very nicely....

car is comfy as hell now, easy driver cross country...no sweat....

All depends on your personal proportions....I'm 6'2" tall, and fit in my C-5 without even pushing the seat all the way back. However, my wife used to own both a '76 and a '79 'Vette, and I couldn't really get comfortable in either. If I tried to sit up straight, my head would be buried in the roof, and in fact, with the roof panel off, I could almost look over the top of the winshield header. So, I had to slouch down in a somewhat uncomfortable position, so I didn't hit the roof as well as see through the windshield. Everybody's situation is unique...

Not everyone is built the same. I am 6-4 but only have a 35 inch inseam, so a lot of my height is from the waist up which is the factor that your looking for. So that being said, I have an 81 and have no issues even with my sized 13 feet, however there are a couple of pairs of shoes I dont wear i it because of the brake clearance. And I think all late model C3's have a tilt/telescopic wheel.

I have one of those console T shaped pads, and so I ride with the James Dean slouch , right elbow on the pad, left hand at 11-12 on the wheel.....power steering, obviously....

I have size 13 also, but with my 14 sandals, I still have enough room with my modifications, listed above....the foot sw dimmer was removed along with the bulge in the floor.....
