Default What would you do????

Apparently there is not source for new rear window trim for a 78.... Although it is not in the greatest shape, I have my original trim... I am trying to find a way to make it look a little less "Old"...

Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this????

Since this stuff can't be found new.... What does someone do if they buy a car where it happens to be missing???

Thanks!!!!!!

Is it the late '78 blacked out trim or the natural metal trim used prior? If it's natural metal, it can be polished and clear coated to look new. If blacked out, that can be re-done as well.

Mine is both black/stainless...half & half...black towards window...perhaps you can find a "donor" vette...78/79 should work..

It is the natural metal trim... It is not in terrible shape but does have some dings that I don't care for.....

Isn't the window trim stainless??
Just tap out the dents and polish.
If you can't remove the dents, then buy some replacements.
I've seen them listed here, on two other Vette sites, and Ebay.
Not that expensive.
Just gotta look a bit.

Eastwood has a nice little book on trim restoration. If that doesn't help, contact Gruhala Enterprises in DeSoto, MO - I wouldn't be surprised to find that Gary has a good set in the shop.

I made mine look like it was made yesterday by stripping that God awful, disgusting black crap off of it. I used a air craft striper and a good deal of patience over a 1 week long period. Looks out of this world.

I cannot stand that black crud. Just a though!
