About 15 average. Drivetrain is pretty much stock If I have time this summer I'm hoping to get the TPI unit I have laying around working. Which should bump my mileage up a bit.

The original stock L-48 got 18~20 on highway and 15 around town. The 383 I have gets 9~12 around town but I am pretty hard on tires.

Honestly, if you are worried about gas mileage in considering a used Corvette, you are buying the wrong car.

There's plenty of other more economical choices out there for you.

I have no idea at this point, I've not been able to drive it since November. If I had to guess I would say about 16 on an L48 79 auto.

I am not really worried about gas mileage, just curious about it. If I wanted gas mileage, I would trade in the duramax GMC because I am paying $4 a gallon for diesel!!. My Zo6 got about 18-20 around town. My turbo C5 even got around 17 around town.
Thanks for the info.
Are you guys running super or reg. gas?
Just wondering
thanks

I got 12-14 MPG in my 78 with slightly modified engine and 3:70 rear. I'm putting in an OD tranny partially for the gas mileage but mainly so I can keep my RPMs down to a reasonable level on the highway.

I only checked mileage a cpl of times after that it was just fill up and watch the gas gauge go down. It's a whole lot of fun on a tank of gas though

Default gas mileage

68 427 12.5-1 compression monster here uses massive amounts of Sunoco 110, mileage I don't know but fun when you got the $$ for 5.99/gallon.

I just calculated it for the first time yesterday...7.8 mpg...72 454 3.08 gears.

I'm going to send Lars a carb to be rebuilt and am hoping for some improvement.

I'd like to be able to take it on trips without having to constantly look for gas stations.

Step on the gas and the gas needle moves to the left while the speedo goes to the right.... I think it all evens out in the end!

Great comments!

My'82 - bone stock cross-fire with 700R4 tranny, turns 2K RPM @ 70 MPH - compared to my Z06 she barely has enough power to get out of her own way, most Suburu's/Honda's pick your import on the road today will run off and leave her...but the old girl got 26 MPG on a 300 mile hwy trip last summer; WITH THE AC ON...crusing in style!

I get 15 ~ 18 in town. The Z06...22 years worth of technology later - 16 in town, 26 Hwy...hmmm, oh, yea the '82 is 200 HP/285 TQ and does (on paper) 0 - 60 in 7.9 while the Z06 is 405 HP/400 TQ and does (again, on paper) 0 - 60 in 3.9...GMs numbers. Not to sell the '82 short, she was a contender in her day but damn the Z car amazes me.

I wish I was wealthy enough not to worry about gas mileage. But at the present rate of increases in gas prices I would think everyone would be a little concerned. Not to steal the tread but how much are you all willing to pay for gas without complaining about the price?

Probably about 15mpg around town and 20mpg highway. Basically a HOT ZZ4 clone with Q-Jet and Tremec. Last time I really worried about mileage was driving from RI to VA, only took two tanks of gas for 550 miles.

But honestly, I just drive it and fill it when it gets empty. It is for fun, not economy.
