$100 Rustoleum paint job
In june it will be two years since I painted my '72 Vette with rustoleum. Still looks great, still smooth as glass, and it's been parked outside as well. So I'm now in the process of painting my avenger GT. Just got done rolling on the 10th and final coat. Gonna let it harden a week, then gonna colorsand and rub out. Then gonna roll on a blue double GT stripe down the middle. I'll post again when it's done.

Do you have any pictures of the '72? I remember following your original threads during the work. Nice to have an update on the quality of the paint.

Brushed-on Rustoleum.....right....
For those of you who believe this, I have a book just for you.... "How Not to Be Gullible" -- only $89.95. PM me for a copy.

It's only $50. on a Mustang
On a classic Mustang it only costs $50.00 according to this guy
http://forums.stangnet.com/showthrea...ht=%2450+paint
I ripped him a new one for suggesting to put Rustoleum on any classic car.
I've painted w/ these oil base paints via spray gun on old junkers and you can get a half way decent looking job cheap, but I still wouldn't do it on anything of value, let alone a classic
The ones that have done it though and did a proper finish (wet sand buff and wax) swear by it. Looks like you pulled it off LowBuck72. I never took those last steps because the vehicle wasn't worth the effort that I sprayed it on.

Melting Slicks
didn't Henry Ford originally brush on the black paint that he used on the old Model "A"s or "T"s ....and then sand the brush strokes out for a smooth finish?
I like the way it turned out

With 10 coats I guess you can sand any paint smooth. I think every one's definition of a GREAT paint job is different. Just like evey one's definition of a FULL RESTORATION is different.

Fixed it. You have to use [IMG] for pictures, [URL] for links.
Looks pretty cool, of course, eBay shows a lot of pictures, too.
But with ten coats and then color sanding, you should be able to get a decent finish out of it. The yellow '72 looked good, and heck, it is ahead of Maaco. "Oh-oh, better get Maaco!"
I just pity the guy who has to repaint that in 10 years or so.

Apparently you missed the threads he posted documenting his process, and progress. Check the archives before you start selling literature. Also car mags and other car forums have been discussing and experimenting with it too.

Paint job
I read all about that method of painting a car a few issues back in one of my Hot Rod magazines. The car was white with a red stripe, can't find the magazine right now, but it looked pretty good. So does the paint go on just as good on a fibreglass body?

Ok Boys & Girls here is the whole story on the $100 Rustoleum paint job from Hot Rod Magazine.. Step By Step how to do it.. If you so desire. they painted a 62 Ford Falcon.
If nothing else I thought the article was interesting.
