BIRDCAGE REPAIR "A LA HACK"!!! you have to see this

My friend, I do agree with you but I have a shop that took in this restoration and cant bad mouth another shop, as that can be perceived a number of different ways. The owner of the car is obviously aware of this and he has the freedom to tell anyone he wants about it. There is too much conflict of interest here as well as the fact that assuming the person who did this does this all the time would be just an assumption on my part.

Top notch work.
I also truly appreciate to see a real shop showing proper work being done. It helps us all in realizing the right way to do these things.
I also think outing of the other shop would have been right on, as I'm sure they are proud of their work with nothing to hide from, right??!!

If it was my car, Bubba and I would be on an episode of Judge Joe Brown. Not only would I take him to small claims court, I'd do it on a national basis and recorded so others would be warned about this guy's "practice".

I have not seen cobbery like that in a long time . Smart guy pulling it from that butcher and giving it to you at least it will be fixed properly now

Great story! Great pics!
This should be required reading for all CF Newbies to help them learn about birdcages, rust and improper rust repairs on C3's.

As it turned out, when the person was confronted with the pics, he decided to work things out with my customer.
I never got involved in that( as that situation wasnt my business), and they worked it all out in a friendly, professional manner. There was no arguing or pressuring involved.
My customer received compensation that was agreeable with him, and the car got repaired properly.
All's well that ends well.

And... thats the way it should end. I hate to see things like this happen! Your ccustomer was very lucky that you were able to correct the evils of another!

He was lucky in the sense that he realised something was wrong early on.(he had no idea about the bad repairs, but was starting to have communication issues with the other shop, and decided to pull out).
That early in the project, it was easy to fix the car. The unfortunate people are the ones that dont realise anything is wrong till much later, or ever for that matter. Those are the ones that get a substandard car, and their hard earned $$$ gets wasted.
Not a good thing. Unfortunately, that happens from time to time. That is why it is so important to be dilligent about who you have working on your car. Communication and full photo documentation of everything done is a MUST.
If a customer and a shop stay true to those rules, you cant go wrong
