Default '79 L82 intake help

am trying to find a date code on this stock aluminum intake...the number casting located behind the carb is 14007378...just below that it reads GM CM...and a large 7 below that close to the rear of the carb...when I look at the underside of the intake, there is a large 7 near the front of the intake...a 378 on a runner just in front of the metal shield...a EGR on a runner just to the rear of the metal shield...I can find no other letters or numbers anywhere, except for numbers designating each cylinder a runner goes to, and the firing order on the topside in front of the carb...thanks for looking

Default '79 Intake Manifold

The NCRS Judging Guide states - "Aluminum intake manifolds have their casting date code on the underside and are not judged" The date codes are just one letter, to indicate the MONTH of casting. "A" - Jan, "B" - Feb, etc. This info is from pages 73-74 of the Third Edition of the 1978-1979 NCRS Judging Guide. Hope ths helps.

Here are several good photos of both sides of a 78 alum intake. Photos show casting numbers, etc.

After doing extensive research, what I have learned is that NCRS does not know anything...there is NO date code on a '79 corvette aluminum intake...they are a joke...I can remember when we owned a ,78 indy pace car corvette where a certified C-3 78-79 judge told me our car wheels where incorrect because there was supposed to be 2 red stripes on the outside rim of the car...it did not matter to him that I had pics of the '78 indy pace car from the corvette musuem that showed 1 red stripe...so much for NCRS
