I am very sure that the electronic tachs always left the needle at the point when the key was turned off. So it is not unusual to find the needle at 1200/1500 rpm if that is your concern.

I am worried about the fact that I can turn the needle counterclockwise 360 degrees with nothing stopping it...it should stop at zero. I don't have the money to replace it/repair it now anyways - still saving up for that engine. Also need to buy my second pair of wheels, so I am putting my money where I need it at the moment.

Built myself a transmission attachment for my engine stand. Works pretty good - now I can start rebuilding the TH350.

WTF? I guess I have to either upgrade my photobucket account or I can't post pics

I hope I didn't lose this entire thread, I never even had a chance to print it off.

Just open a new Photobucket account in a different name with a different email address and delete a few pics from your main one so they work again.

Jeremy worst case, I would be happy to provide you a FREE FTP account to store you images. I own an ISP. Again, no charge. It's to everyone's benefit to keep this thread going. No bandwidth limits.

If you are interested, let me know.

Cool!!!!!!

I was gonna post about a thousand pics of the tranny rebuild last night, but it wouldn't let me post. I'll try to do that later on today.

That isn't the issue, but I wish it was. I have exceeded my monthly bandwidth limit, so I have to wait a month before the pictures become visible again. I am going to open up a new account and keep updating this thread, and hopefully the old pictures from past updates will be visible in a month (according to photobucket).

Or, I pay and upgrade to pro and they will be visible right away...but I don't feel like spending any money right now, sorry guys. I'll make a new account for now and continue with new updates.

I set up an account for you on one of our servers. I sent you a PM. If you have trouble let me know. I'm bouncing between the garage and the computer tonight.

If you run out of space, let me know. I'll boost the quota.

Every part I took off I took a picture of. I bagged everything, and put a reference number on each part corresponding to the ATSG manual...it took a lot of effort, but I have the disasembly well documented for for easy reassembly. Here are some pics (not all of them, i didn't want to bore you). I have been scrubbing the bare housing for days, and I still can't get it clean enough to paint it

I ruined this part during disassembly...stupid mistake. I need to talk to TimAT about the housing...I might have ruined the hole this part goes in. I'll ask him for his professional opinion on what to do.

Brave man - Auto boxes confuse the hell out of me. Dont think I would have the ***** to fully strip one and rebuild it. Manual boxes look oh so simple when you look inside an auto box.
Good work, and hope that damage isnt anything major.
Keep the pics coming

Almost as many parts as a T&T steering column! Keep up the good work.

Hey, with the economy downspiralling, anything to keep people employed helps

I didn't have the courage to dive in until I talked to Mike Dyer about rebuilding it - he convinced me to try rebuilding it myself. Apparently it is easier than rebuilding a custom diff, which I have already done, so I decided to give it a shot. It took me a couple days to disassemble, because I had to document every piece that I removed (so I have references for reassembly). I still have tons of parts and sub-assemblies to disassemble, but I am starting off slow and taking my time on this rebuild. The only part I damaged was the manual shift lever pin - it was a stupid mistake, and I might have ruined the hole in the housing, which is not good. I still have to talk to TimAT about whether or not I am okay...I can only hope right now
