Your '79 is a Corvette. It is not a Stingray and has no Stingray badges from the factory. Ditto for my '68 and my '80. They are Corvettes; neither is a Stingray.

Is it possible that this thread is started as often as the "no one will wave at me" threads?

Sometimes when I drive my car I have my windows up. Sometimes they are down. But, then again, Sometimes I have my windows up. Sometimes they are down. But, then again, Sometimes I have my windows up. I saw the USS Kittyhawks once too.
Anybody ever been to Deadwood SD? Pretty neat little town...
Oh...what were we talking about again?

I don't care what badge Chevrolet put on them '63'-'67 were StingRays and '68-'82 were Maco Sharks. Well anyway that is the way plenty of us pretty much so viewed them back in the day. As popular as the '63-'67 is today the '68 when it came out on the street in 1968 was more popular back then that plenty of us pre-'68 owners at the time had to have one of the new Maco Shark bodied Corvettes. I know I was one of them selling my '67 Vert in '71 in order to purchase my then 2 year old 1969 427-435HP Coupe the fastest car I ever owned.
You need to really think about it. The '63-'67 really looks more link a Stingray fish as the '68-'82 looks more like a Maco Shark fish. Anyone disagree with me here to the distinctions.

This is a funny topic and a fun thread.. I can see this horse has been beat quite a bit. My neighbor and I got into an argument when he went with me to look at my 79' before I bought it the other day. He kept saying it was a Stingray.. Me, I said it was not.. It looks like it, but it sure don't say it.. Too me a Stingray had more than a name.. It has a distinctive style, usually a chrome luggage rack, chrome bumper, and completely devoid of the obligatory spoiler or two.. At least that is the picture in my mind when I think "Stingray"..
Oh, it helps to have something on the car that actually says Stingray too..
