If this were just described to me verbally, I would think it was nuts. However, seeing the pics, I gotta say, I LIKE IT.

Finally got some time to work on the car. Between long days at work and bad weather it has been slow going. I got a little more work done on the sail panels and worked a little more on hood alignment. The stock 77 hood matches up with the new hood well and will soon be attached. It ain't pretty but it is starting to look a little more complete.

I just saw this thread for the first time and I've got to say WOW
Would you mind posting more in process pics that show how you are doing the glass work? I am planing on doing some hacking on mine also and can use as many tips and reference photos as I can get. I am very interested in seeing how you pull all the body lines together and get them to blend.
Keep up the good work.

Really neat! As long as you keep the lines it should look like a super custom job.

Ready for more fiberglass. This time I used cardboard templates to create a buck for the side of the body. Covered those with heavy cardboard paper, duct tape(yes, I'm bubba), then foil to ensure release after fiberglassing. At this point it is ready to fiberglass then lots and lots of sanding. Pretty easy just really time consuming and usually frustrating.

That's a really cool way of blending the C2 nose and butt to the C3 lines. Very cool look...

This thing is going to look SICK - for all you oldies out there, here is a definition of "sick"

Sick:
Now used as the newest word to replace cool. Something that you've never seen before.

You're doing an awesome job, I wish I would have seen this thread before I started repairing my body a year ago - I would have done the same thing

Opinions please.

I originally was planning to take off the sport mirrors and replace them with chrome ones from an early c3. Then I saw this picture and it got me thinking the sport mirrors don't look that bad even on the earlier body style. I'm still on the fence soooooo, what you think?
Thanks,
Scott

I vote for the sport mirrors. it gives the car that race look. question how is all that extra fiberglass attached to the side of the car? what would keep it from getting stress cracks... oh if I didn't say it before great job love the look.

Looking great! Sport mirrors for sure. What size wheels and tires did you go with?

Your progress is amazing - looking good.

I saw this car while driving, in traffic while on vacation in FL back in Oct. Just found the picture and thought I'd share - nice car, don't want to knock another guys work but yours already looks better. That exhaust hanging down below is but the fuel door is ...wonder if the trunk works?

I finally got some more work done. The door opens and closes freely after some trial and error experimenting with the front door opening. I need to bond the skins to the body and then bondo time. I've also been experimenting with a satin silver color. I tested it on whats left of the old hood and plan on adding a gloss black racing stripe tomorrow. I first fell in love with the satin silver when seeing the bmw z4 coupe concept. Hopefully with be undating more soon. Comments, critique welcome.

This Vette is awesome and uses glossy silver but still has the satin look. I think it looks great with the black wheels

I bought a set of junk bumpers a couple of months ago. I thought I was buying a complete set of fronts/rears, but it turns out it was two sets of rears. I got them very cheap because they are in very poor condition. Rather than spend $400 on a set of usable front bumpers that would probably have to be modified to fit the custom front end and certainly need to be rechromed for that price, I decided to modify the rear bumpers. This is the fruit of about an hours worth of labor. Not finished, just tacked heavy. I'm working on figuring out how to make them removable for inspection/night use because they hide my headlights. Ideas?
