Default Koyo Bearings?

Anyone had any good or bad experiences with these bearings. They are made in Japan, and advertise quality, but they sure are cheap compared to Timken. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Some are, some aren't. My rear Timkins are USA made, the fronts are from Poland.

Hi, I worked in the bearing industry for quite a few years and I can tell you that KOYO have a very high reputation.I personally have never had any complaints or problems with Koyo bearings. Koyo make alot of specials for the Japanese market.
As far as I know, Timken used to manufacture their own steel, which probably reflects on the higher price of their bearings. But, also would insure a top quality bearing.
Most major bearing companies have plants all over the world, so you will see TIMKEN made in Poland, Australia, etc
The only time you should go with the chinese variety is when you are ordering fried rice with sweet and sour.
Personally, I have always been an SKF man.

Actually depends on which bearing, Timken and koyo both manufacture here in the US.

With the new world economy, I guess it really doesn't matter where they are made as long as the quality standards remain high.

That's what I figure. The high-end bearing companies aren't going to jeopardize decades of reputation by selling crap bearings...or at least I hope they won't.

We use *** s ( ) & NTN berings for the most part on our electric motors.

I personaly select NTN's most of the time. Ive had a few bad bearings out of the box on some of the other brands. But never an NTN.

The boss gets kind of mad when you wipe out a $1500 bearing while running a motor on the test pad.
