Default Post some wild and crazy custom pix from the glory 70s

would love to see some old custom pix from the glory days,
flares, wide Cragar SS, slotmags, wild and crazy pain jobs etc

No,, I am not crazy, I grew up as a teenager in the 70s, Popular hot rodding magazine kicked *** and I got my inspiration and love for these wild corvettes ,personally never really like the 100% original cars,
would love to see some mild to wild customs

I tracked down the original owner of my 70 LT-1 about a year ago. The widow sent me these from back in the very early 70's

now

Mine was done in 1972. It is early 70"s all the way. Am restoring it and The new wheels are Cragar SS with tri bar spinners. 15 x 12 rear, 15 x 8 front. Mako body kit, 3 tailights nerf bar bumpers, tilt front end flairs all the way around, chrome hooker sidepipes. tripower. Diamond pleated interior with chrome rollbar. Don't like the grill and lights. Going with a 58 corvette tooth grill and round lights in the grill. I had a NCRS car and will never go back. Build it like you want it, Drive it like you stole it, fix it when you break it! Here are some old pictures and 1 new bad picture of the in process retoration. New paint Corvette torch red, Lexus black pearl scoop, House of Kolor Fireball flake in clear coat.

Ok, it's not a Corvette....but it was my last GTO before I got onto the Vettes. Pardon the picture quality, I had to scan from old snap shots.
Hey, in the 70's this giant metal flake, muti colored paint job made this one of the coolest cars around!
It was pretty fast from stop light to stop light and it would absolutely burn the tires off from a standing start, jump a little sideways when you shifted to second and again in 3rd and chirp the tires into 4th.
'67 GTO 400 4 speed, Full fiberglass front end, 12 bolt posi, M-22 Rockcrusher, Hooker headers, Mickey Thompson N50/15's on Cragar SS mags...all the period correct stuff. A pretty cool nostalgia rod. It looks a little "over the top" today, but I miss it!

Default Not a Vette but..

This was my ride back in the 70's.

I wish I still owned it. It would probably be worth more than the Vette .

Again, not a Corvette but this was my first car in 1969 and my first custom paint job and figuring out how to do it as I went. All acrylic lacquer with a combination of Metalflake, panel painting, cobbwebbing and imagineering. The sides had 24 double coats of clear wet sanded after every 12 coats to bury the cobwebbing and Metalflake. Then there are the Camaro hood scoops, air shocks, L60-14 rear tires, chrome front Rally wheels etc. This was pretty cool at the time especially for a 17 year old and paved the way for a lot of custom paint jobs for the next 3 years until the neighbors got fed up with cars coming and going every couple weeks year round. Sold this car in 1972 for $600 with around 40k miles. Paint hadn't cracked yet. It was pretty wild for a daily driver.
The car when new:

After my mom gave it to me:

A '70 Chevelle that I did in 1970: (yes this look was popular)
