Canvas Soft Top For Coupes
Can anyone help me here?
Has anyone SEEN in real life OR used the following temporary roof?
If so; do you have to stick velcro to the front and rear of the targa roof area (which I'm guessing would look UGLY!?)

Yes I had one some time ago. You have to use velcro to hold the rear and assist on securing the front. They say it's only for use at "normal road speeds" whatever they might be. The two plastic bolts that also secure the front through the T top locking holes are very fragile and prone to breaking, if they do your canvas top is toast! Mine lasted about 6 months before ripping in half at about 65mph.

I WOULD only be using it as a sunshield really OR an emergency raincoat; just this one-off custom C3 I bought from my mate the other week doesn't have ROOM to store a regular roof and even if targa roofs weren't priced like gold; it'd STILL be a struggle due to space in rear;

Would like to get a better look. So; you DO NEED to glue/attach velcro to front and rear then? If so, how ugly does it look or doesn't it really detract from the looks, even with the stainless steel targa roof divider 'thing' (Sorry, I'm brand new to C3's!)
PS; did you get yours from E*klers or elsewhere? I ASSUME they're all made by the same company anyway?

My car is in pieces...only pics I have.
It's attached w/ velcro over the header bar (the stainless T shaped thing on top of the windshield frame) and that doesn't look very good and tends to get dirty. I think I got mine from ecklers yes. It's called a "raincoat"

Thanks 'Twin Turbo'; I definately wouldnt cover my header bar (Thanks for that; I now know ONE MORE thing about C3's! hehehe) completely; best I'd do is either side of it...
'Stingr69'; thanks for the lead ~ SURELY SOMEONE must make something good AND storable?

The Amtop units have original-style mounting brackets and pins (no velcro). As noted above the company went out of business many years ago but sets do show up on EBay from time-to-time.

100MPH ... that's some good velcro.
I have recently acquired one - used.
You could get away with not putting velcro on the stainless
header bar - if not used while driving. That is - use as a
sun sheild and emergency raincoat - but only when parked.

I have a set of these that a forum member gave me. They will keep you dry while setting still, but you will get drenched if you try to drive with them on. Ask me how I know. I ended up just duct taping them to the car during overnight storms. Also, they make popping noises will you drive.

Safety Car
i don't know what part of miami you live in, but the part of ft lauderdale i live in sees a few drops from time to time (particularly late in the afternoons from may 1 to oct 1, lol!!) i have a raincoat that i have had for a couple of years, and wouldn't think of driving with it except in an emergency. i use it simply as protection against one of those afternoon gator pounders we get at a show or a cruise, or when ever i've taken the car out for a drive. the good news is that down here, if you don't like the weather (read rain storm at this point), just wait 10 minutes and it will change. it is rare that you can't wait out one of the storms and still have the car protected while you are waiting, lol!! BTW, i consider the canvas raincoat indispensable and wouldn't be without it for a short term solution to bad weather.

So long as it's not just the 'raincoat' that Ecklers advertised to be used SOLEY when parked, then you have yourself a deal buddy!
Let me know ASAP and we'll do the necessary arrangements
