69 Corvette VIN ending 01710?
Can anyone tell me the build month? I've checked the online VIN decoders and they dont seem to be very accurate and I cant get to the build plate on the door jamb
Not certain if correct but I found first month of production for 69's was September and the model year ran for 16 months.
Appreciate any help.

That is number 1,710 of how ever many were made that year. If you register your car with the C3 registry (c3registry.org) it will give you the birth date (approx) coenciding with your vin#.

1710 is a low number and would have been a little past halfway through September 1968 production (3041 total). The plant would have been closed for Labor Day. Your Time/Build date should be very close, but indicates only the date the tag was attached to the body on the assembly line. She may or may not have been completed on that day depending upon the time she reached the point on the line where the tag was attached.

How do you tell what is an early or late production 69? My car has a mixture of early and late parts. Do you just try to replace what it came with, match new parts to old? My vin ends 11022 the trim tag is E17 is it early or late production?

Production for '69s started in August 1968. My build date was August 23 and the sequential part of my VIN is 00035. I believe my convertible was built on the first day of production. The production rate was 8 cars per hour per period reports that I recall.
Coincidentally, I ran into 1969 SN 00071 being sold less than 20 miles from me.

I got the drivers door open and the plate says "B16". Could that be right?

Doh! Must have had a senior moment! Since production started in August, I should have replied that your trim tag would read B16 or B17 for a September car. As it turns out, it was B16.
