Default Dynamat and other sound/heat helpers

How well does Dynamat help? When I redo my capret after Dynamat, should I use the heat shield carpet pad also?

I hear Dynamat helps with 80% of the squeeks and rattles. Any comments on this for my convertible?

Yes, it helps. Put the Dynamat down first, then Reflectix on top of the Dynamat.

But regardless of what you do, don't expect your car to be as sound-proof as a new Lexus. I've come to accept the various squeeks and rattles with my C3. That's just the way it is.

Default fat mat

what about this fat mat stuff? sure is cheaper than dynamat. that stuff is way overpriced. all it basicly is a layer of rubber with a foil backing.

Great link Batman. Very interesting article. Definately something I want to learn more about. How much do these products shield against heat if at all? Someone mentioned reflectix? So a two stage process? One layer for sound then another for heat? Thanks!

I did the Dynamat Extreeme today. Wow. Less heat big time (this is Phoenix) and loads of shut the @#&% up.

I did the underdash as best I could, and the doors and floor in front. It killed 70% of the noise and some rattles. Just woundn't be a Vette without the rattles. Gonna get to the rear next week when the subs fgo in.

I decided to do Dynamat Extreeme on overthing so far, and will be using Reflectix when the new carpet goes down front & rear.

May not be quiet as a Lexus, and it's still not done, but so far I can tell a huge difference.

Default ordered the fat mat

guess I will be the test dummy for this stuff my main concern is the heat by the headers, I have two pieces of dynnmat extreme from a job a few years back, I think I will put that on the floor nearest the headers and fat mat everywhere else in the car.

Good to hear Dave ... What I researched (this forum) were all positive in regards to Dynamat Extream. It's going to be another 3 weeks before I get to test mine .

Gator: You'll have to post your results with the fatmax...

How about THERMO SHIELD - it's a sticky back alum heat shield that goes to 2000 degrees. Wondering if anyone has applied this to the underside of a car, ie, over the exhaust pipes - to keep heat outta the floor of the C3....
