[SCORED!] What I Found In My 79 L-82 {{UPDATE (post#26)}}
I knew I had to put new carpets and "get after it' since the weather is nice.
So; I spent a grand (all kinds of stuff...freekin money pit), tore the interior out and "got after it".
I removed the passenger side carpet and what do I find?
weed???
no.
Coke????
ummmm...nope (damn!) ...lol
Yeah, I found tons of change, but also;
this:
Approx .90ct. (it was bigger than .85, but smaller than 1.0)
I also found out they have "digital diamond testers"...it looks like a "probe multi-meter"...hmmm...learn something new everyday.
The lady at the jewelry store(owners wife) wants it bad...she said she hasnt seen a diamond this flawless in a long time...she thought it was a fake at first...then became mezmerized and hypnotyzed.
I have to admit' I too thought it was a fake...its so clear and pefectly cut.
She also suspected it was very old and from Germany...like huh???
Here's my theory; some lady passenger went to undo her seatbelt and the console carpet snagged the setting. The setting bent, and the rock dropped out. It ended up under the carpet right at the passenger side seat-belt clicky.
How it got under the carpet is beyond me...but its mine now.

Wow, that's great. I justed looked under my carpet all I could see was dirt.
I've heard of diamond pleated inter.....but, yours takes the cake.
Do you remember the add where they cut a diamond in a car to show how smooth the ride was? I know they would not try that in a vette.
Very Cool, Congrats..... to you.

What happens if a former owner of your car (or anyone) realizes that their wife lost that diamond in the car. The stone may have been documented, insured, and the insurance company may have paid a claim for the loss. Can the insurance company come knocking on your door to claim the property they paid on?

Not likely...if it's older it's not lazer inscribed and unless there's a certificate against the diamond to show ithe cut (diamonds have a fingerprint of sorts) it would be hard to prove. Most insurance on jewelry is capped because people don't get the additional coverage so they probably paid 2K tops.

It also appeared that it had been there for several years...it was dirty, and kinda snugged in some crap....the lady at the jewelry store was nice enough to clean it for me.
Pretty cool.....

OH NOOO, when I did the first interior cleanup on my new to me 85 C4 (back in 2000), I pulled the seat pads out & vacumned up a whole bunch of "shiny bits of glass" off the carpet.
I thought they were from a broken window.
Congrats on your find. Get it appraised & put into a nice setting, then give it to your (future) wife. That will get you WAY more mileage than just selling it off for the $$ now.

A Hershey's Kiss? NOO!!!!
congrats! Finders keepers losers weepers!
I might feel different if it was a whole ring... but a stone? Long gone, long forgotten.
