pics of 245/60/15 front 255/60/15 rear
Well, I was thinking about getting new 17" rims and tires but some unforseen repairs have depleted my "mod" money. I really am going to need new tires soon so I'm going to keep the stock ralleye rims on my 72. I'm thinking about going with 245/60/15 in the front and 255/60/15 in the rear. Anybody have pics of this combo? I would like to see what the vehicle stance is like and how good the wheel wells are filled. Also any advice on brands is appreciated. I'm leaning towards the bf goodrich ta's.
Thanks for any info

Melting Slicks
245/60R15 front and rear. MUCH better then the 225's that were on it when I bought the car.
The guy at tire rack says "Wow those are big tires, are you sure they will fit?" LOL

For you guys running the 255's all the way around, I've read that there can be problems with rubbing, etc with this size, especially in the front. Have any of you experienced that?

Which brings up this idea;
since you are keeping the stock ralley's for now, you may as well go the same size all the way around until you get the custom rims (whether it be safely with 245's from git-go or 255's).
Most *good* tire shops will mount at least one front and check for rubbing before they mount all 4.
With same size; you can then rotate the tires and keep them in great condition, which will enables you to re-sell them if you choose once you get the custom rims.
If you want to resell and have different size tires front vs. rear, you will have to find the right buyer...
All 4 the same size will fit just about all 15" applications including trucks...giving you a broader market for resale.
I have 255x60 all the way around and no rubbing issues...I have seen (and read) that a lot of other CF members have 255x60 front and rear with no rubbing either.
Good Luck,
Jim

In this picture my car has 235/60/15 on front...275/60/15 on the rear. The rears rubbed the inner finders when I hit bumps. I now have 245s all the way around.
