Default I just saw Merlin522 on Barrett-Jackson

Edit: I somehow accidentally posted this in the tech section. Sorry about that, please move to C3 general. If this is a dupe, I apologize now and the mods can feel free to delete this thread. I haven't been on here in awhile, but I JUST turned on the Barrett-Jackson auction on Speed Channel and saw the Merlin522 vette. It went for $68,000, which was a crapload less than Steve spent to have the car built. I was one of several people who actually saw the car while it was being built in Seattle.

Interesting - I wonder why it is changing hands so frequently. Does anyone have feedback on how it runs? ie, Did they ever work out the bugs??

That auction took place one year ago...

SpeedChannel is showing Barrett-Jackson re-runs all weekend.

Yup.....

Me: staring at TV
Mrs: How can you watch that all day?
Me: I dunno. It is just neat. Cool. Beautiful cars.
Mrs: tap tap tap
Me: Wow! Look at that one!
Mrs: You are an idiot

(at least I think that is how the conversation went. I wasnt really listening. )

She really went through the roof when I said it was a rerun and that this years is on in a few weeks.....

And it is on again today! As long as I can make it look like I am entertaining the kids I should be ok. It's gonna rain all day here anyway.

I only have one question regarding that car... Why is there no clearance for the rear tires? There dosent seem to be enough room for any suspension travel even accounting for the arc that the wheel travels on... the rear tires hang out an inch beyond the fender lips...

There has to be some suspension movment in the linkage or the sidewall to get all that power to the ground.

I dont get it...

It's a buildup to this years big auction. Supposed to get us excited and interested... Gosh Marge, if they were that stupid last year, imagine what they will do THIS year!! Maybe some yahoo will pay $5million for a pink corvette this year!!

(Actually they do have some unique concept cars on the block this year)

Sorry guys, the info didn't say anything about it being last years auction and I didn't see any threads on the topic. After hearing that it was last years auction, I was able to search the forum archives to find some old threads. Mods, please delete (or at least lock) this thread.

Again, sorry for the major dupe.

Funny that was lastyears quote from my wife too...

This years is centered around the paint and "feeling" those body lines to make sure it's smooth. You lnow where that's headed. Time for me to shut up.
