My C3 insurance sucks

I have an agreed policy with State Farm and it is less than $200 per year. It does have usage limitations though, but I am always going to a show somewhere.

Mines with Classic Car insurance. 271 per year, agreed value 30K, but mileage limited to 3K. 69 coupe w350, slight mods. Of course, I'm "almost" an old fart with excellent records.
I also have USAA on my other cars. I called them, and the customer service guy laughed when I told him that I wanted to insure the vette with them. Then he recommended antique insurance. P*ssd me off. If USAA wasn't so good, I would have dropped them right there.

I'm only 20 and Hagerty will insure my vette for like $800 a year with 100/300/100, no decuctibles yadda yadda. Right now I'm on mercury for $140 a month with 2 points on my record (neither were unsafe nor was I speeding).
If you have a allstate, state farm, or farmers I hope you never have to make a claim. They're complete dicks when it comes to claims due to salaried lawyers.

I got a quote from Grundy for $106.50/yr on the 77 & $420 for the 00. I guess that makes up my mind. I'll just use my use my mazda 626 for work & errands and keep the fun rides for just that. Oh can anyone else drive the collector cars on joy rides or is it just me that can? If I go to a show and want both vehicles can someone else drive the other vette and still be covered?

Dogboy,
IF your Corvette is not a daily commuter vehicle, you need to check out the insurance companies like Haggerty that insure collector cars. Yours is old enough to qualify. I live in Massachusets which has some of the highest rates around and they quoted me $300 for my 68 coupe with agreed upon value of $30K and I can drive it when I want as long as I can prove, which I did, that I have another car that is my daily commuter. They told me there are no mileage limits. Bottom line, I insured my 79 Benz and my 68 Corvette for under $700.00 and my regular company used to charge me $750.00 for the Benz alone.( I drive Benz 2-3000 miles per year and Corvette probably the same, having just restored it) Company WAS Commerce Insurance, now is going to be Haggerty for both .
You should definitely look into switching to somebody else. There are lots of collector insurnace companies out there who will be glad to take you. Shop around for price and limits.

AON covers my 72 Coupe for about $140 / year. No deduct / 300K liability / 20K replacement value !

Like many of the others that have posted, I have Collector car insurance for an "agreed to value" ($40K on my 63). This insurance runs about $300 per year. They have a lot of stipulations on where it is stored, miles, use, etc... It would not be a good choice if you drive your car for daily transportation. Good luck finding the right solution for your needs.

Drivers are myself, wife, son (27 yrs old ) all with great credit & clean records. The real kick in the as* was that I just found out the loss from a theft or destruction was BOOK VALUE!. That means I get jack for it if stolen. I have a 00 C5 with them & only pay $926/yr. When I originally added the car on we spoke of a $8000 value & I was under the assumption that it was covered for that price in case of loss. ( My stupid for not getting it in writing); OMG I've been driving around with this thing & could have lost it all if it were stolen. On the phone they now have no record of such a price agreement. They told me I needed an appraisal for the value and than would add that on for an additional cost. It is a daily driver at this time so collector car insurance wouldn't work . I did get in touch with Mercury insurance & am waiting for thier price. I don't know I may just garage it and buy a 2nd car for daily transport. That will take the fun out of it for sure. This sucks.

I called USAA a few weeks back and they were very vague about replacement values. for a 72 i'm looking at. After talking to about 3 different people in different departments, i was told they go off of "market value" for the area. They research what the same car in the same or similar condition sold for. They said if you are making improvements that actually add value to the car (i.e. new engine, new interior) to document them and take pictures. My quote totaled $200/6 months for comprehensive and collision.

I never asked to be paid more than $10,000, but I never demanded $10,000 either. They made the $25,000 offer at their own initiative. I never understood why, but I never questioned them either. I accepted the offer. My best guess is that the insurance contract must have been for the declared value or market value, whichever was more.
they said you owe them $15000.00 and will be billing you for it this week!
