Default Carpet adhesive removal

I bought some 3M carpet adhesive remover and they suggest to apply it with a rag and let it sit. I'm thinking of applying it with a brush(easiest and less messy) Has anyone tried this before? For those who have removed the old carpet adhesive on their 'Vette, any tips are appreciated.

Spray it with lots of 'GOO-GONE!' first. It works great!

Goo-Gone works best; if you can't find that, there's a spray that you can buy called Motsenbocker's Lift-Off that does almost as good a job.
