Default Raced a Dodge Viper today......

........and he blew right by me!

Just was out for a drive on the tollway and was cruisin right along around 80 (when the coast was clear) then a black Viper started to draft behind me ( not racing close mind you) then further along the traffic cleared and we both floored it for about 10 seconds, I was ahead then l a t e r....
he was gone, smoothly going up to the 3 digits. Oh well it was fun though. I still had him on looks mind you..

those vipers are really awesome cars. gotta respect 'em. i think they set the benchmark today for a production performance car. i see one on my way to work once in a while and it looks and sounds wicked. when i get my 68 on the road hopefully next summer i plan to have my 468 in it that i built this year. its full roller, 10.3 CR, LS6 heads (old school) with 2.250 intake valves, L78 type intake, 800 holley, 3.70/4 spd. i would consider it an honor to be able to hang with a viper at least for a while with that, but not at all sure that it could. and i agree with you, you still had him on looks.

Had same thing happen with one of these.

And that's the view I saw soon after. I didn't get him on looks but I have $170,000.00 less in mine though.

And the beauty is for less than $15,000 you can have him looking at your rear end with him scratchin his head wondering what hit him

Just credit it to the extra tall 5th and 6th those things have (0.74 and 0.50). You just ran out of gear!

I am not sure I could pull that off yet in my stock 80. After the upcoming weekend cam/head swap, hopefully I will be able to at least keep up.

C3 owners aren't immature boy racers or old men in a mid-life crisis.
We're sophisticated Connoisseurs

I'd keep my C3 but if I were to ADD a Ferrari, it'll be the Ferrari Dino.
The C3's of Ferraris!

Ya,..that was it. I could have had him it I only had 2 more gears and about 300 more HP's. With chamber exhaust and t-tops off and running up to the 4000 rpm mark, my car sounds like freight train ready to blow. ( all that noise tends to light'n your foot abit).
Can't imagine running mine up to 120 or so and just holding it down. Although I remember talking to someone at a show about driving these cars up to those speeds, he was like no problem man, your car could do it and it would be fine. Don't think I will though. Everytime I do, I get that imagined close up of a cotter pin vibrating out and some vital linkage droping out and then.....fill in the rest..

Guess you haven't read the lastest Z06/Viper shoot-outs in Car and Driver and Automobile. The Z06 trounced the Viper.
